Arbeitsatmosphäre

Everyone in the team is super motivated, pushing and supporting each other every day. People are friendly, approachable and easy to talk to. On the other hand, you do feel that everyone has a lot on their plate at all times, so there is little "chit-chat" and you don't meet each other in the kitchen (when you're actually at the office). There could also be done more to create a nicer atmosphere overall, e.g. by decorating the office more or encouraging people to eat together.

Kommunikation

A big topic at COMO. Even all the way through COVID and fully remote work, people stayed very connected (video chats, chat, phone ...). People are friendly, feedback on communication is actively encouraged, meetings are structured and productive.

Kollegenzusammenhalt

The team is great. Everyone that works at COMO is interesting, nice and capable – everyone supports each other for work-related things, jokes around, enjoys coming to team events and so on.

Work-Life-Balance

Overall very good for the industry. Hours vary a lot between departments, teams and especially clients though.

Vorgesetztenverhalten

Very good overall. Positive Leadership is also a big topic at COMO, with self-reflection being encouraged just as much as actively mentoring and giving feedback. People are being developed into leadership roles over time. On the other hand, leadership styles also vary a lot between teams – this is not necessarily a bad thing, but it does show that there is a lack in "formal training" and overall alignment of goals between departments. Management is often very busy, you have to catch a break in their schedule if you want to talk about something – however, this is just due to the fact that COMO has a lot to do. Everyone is usually extremely appreciative and open for input.

Interessante Aufgaben

Very depending on the market and client situation. Being a service provider, COMO does "what clients what them to do". Overarching / internal projects are often moved due to short-term requirements by clients. But again, very different between departments.

Gleichberechtigung

Very positive, appreciative atmosphere. People are encouraged to speak their mind, cricitise and make proposals, change what they want to see changed. (Disclaimer: As a member of a very privileged group in society, I can't judge how this may feel for other groups.)

Umgang mit älteren Kollegen

Disclaimer: Very few "older" colleagues in the company.

Arbeitsbedingungen

Overall a very nice office in a great location in Prenzlauer Berg, but could be decorated / built out more and better. No food / drinks / anything really provided besides a desk and Wi-Fi. Hardware / software situation is generally fine, but you do have to ask for everything you need that goes beyond a MacBook. Home Office always possible, flexible working hours (but no "Home Office" budget or similar). So not bad, but not exceptionally good compared to other companies.

Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein

Not a topic being actively worked on. So not really "bad", but also not good. People get lunch a lot and throw away the containers, hard to cook in the office, small fridge with food that tends to go bad because people forget it. No social projects at all currently.

Gehalt/Sozialleistungen

Pay is likely average for the industry, but not competitive. Everyone has to negotiate their own pay level in regular intervals, so what you make depends on how well you can sell yourself. Budgets are always communicated to be tight, with no transparency in pay between colleagues. Definitely large discrepancies in pay between different departments and seniorities. Basically no "Berlin Startup-type benefits".

Image

Great reputation among clients, partners and former employees.

Karriere/Weiterbildung

People are actively encouraged to participate in building the company they want to work at. Development into leadership roles, but not in a very structured way. No formal training budget, courses or anything similar offered. Basically you have to ask for what you want and then argue for why you need it.
