My most disappointing professional experience in 10 years
Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich
Some colleagues are nice and I formed good bounds with them despite an environment that is really challenging to be in.
Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich
All of the above.
Verbesserungsvorschläge
Treat employees fairly and enforce transparent communication. Never resort to questionable tactic pressures. The main concerns seems to be mostly centred about mitigating expenses by all means, which would be well-understood if the efforts would be transparent, coherent and fairly recognised and compensated. But this might call for a complete change of direction... People who inherently value trust and transparency.
Arbeitsatmosphäre
I have the impression that employees have no drive anymore. They appear demotivated and exhausted, with little sense of direction. The environment feels chaotic rather than structured.
Image
It does not seems Goldner has a nice reputation in the area. It shows when you talk to people outside the workplace, at the shops or the hotels.
Work-Life-Balance
Working distribution seems to be unevenly distributed. Therefore, you can end up with a tone of work and excessive overtime or not at all. It might be difficult to get them compensated. Depends on where you stand, work-life balance might be great.
Karriere/Weiterbildung
I am doing it on my own, at my own expenses and private time, as I fear asking for compensation might be difficult, meet with disapprobation, seen as an expense and not compensated anyway.
Gehalt/Benefits
I think the pay is way below market. Once you're in, it seems you don't have much room for negotiation and that the salary reviews are ignored or extremely spaced out. You might have to fight extremely hard and achieve strong KPIs to get a minimal raise.
Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein
Still sending huge paper catalogues all over Europe.
Kollegenzusammenhalt
The new hires quickly left after a few months in and were not replaced. For anyone left, we're all in the same boat.
Umgang mit älteren Kollegen
I feel older staff members are perceived as slowing things down and not always respected.
Vorgesetztenverhalten
I feel my wins are my manager's to take and any problems pushed down to employees. I wonder if sometime there is no micro-management in place. In term of compensation it seems that not all employees have the same benefits - such as travel compensation despite claim of the contrary.
Arbeitsbedingungen
I feel isolated and under valued.
Kommunikation
Communication feels transactional, rarely happening in writings (especially when it's at your advantage), and to work only last minute and in a one-way top-down approach. I feel I have to be very careful about any form of statement that I could make, as it could later be weaponised and used against you. My manager itself seems to be under intense scrutiny. You might have to evaluate the work of your manager and send feedback to his manager.
Gleichberechtigung
Not everybody seems to be treated the same. It depends on how much you negotiate or can push back I guess.
Interessante Aufgaben
There was a interesting and important project to take place but which came to an abrupt stop as soon as it started - without me able to explain it. I feel the manager was caught by surprise by a last minute decision too. Hence, there might be no interesting tasks for us anymore as it feels the department is being externalised.
