I have very mixed impressions of the company. These are my impressions and observations as I have experienced them firsthand and from what information I have been able to gather myself.
On the good side, the projects are fascinating, and the salaries are very high. At the moment, Helsing.AI seems to be flooded with start-up capital and can afford to solve many problems with high wages. A specialist engineer should demand a yearly salary starting at 110,000 €, before taxes, and an additional 100,000 € in stocks.
On the bad side of things, I have experienced being treated badly by a one mid-management functionary. Adding to that, HR has played along with his behavior and has done things they should not have. Now, one will always find difficult people in every company, but if the checks and balances are there and if the company’s culture is such that certain behaviors are not tolerated, then things would have looked different.
While fascinating, the current company projects are clearly overambitious from the engineering and certification prospects. Key expert teams are not staffed. As the projects progress and real problems emerge, one can expect the blaming game to begin. If the treatment of people that I have experienced is indicative of what is tolerated in the company, one can expect a very rough ride.
