We are offering an exciting opportunity as Functional Lead Consent Defense, Aviation & Radar to be an important part in paving the way for Vattenfall and its customers and partners towards a fossil free future!

As our new Functional Lead Consent Defense, Aviation & Radar you will focus on resolving defense incl. aviation and radar issues which arise during all phases of our projects. You will be part of the Consenting team under Offshore Development. Although based in BU Offshore the scope of the Functional Lead Consent Defense, Aviation & Radar will also be supporting our Onshore portfolio. You will also represent Vattenfall at relevant industry fora.

The Business Area Wind is responsible for Vattenfall’s Onshore and Offshore Wind as well as other non-hydro Renewable activities like PV/Solar. Our offshore business is amongst the top three players globally and we are currently constructing the world’s first subsidy free offshore site. Our offshore portfolio consists at present of 2,0 GW installed capacity and 2,5 GW, which are under construction or in pre-construction. It is our clear ambition to continue and even accelerate our strong growth in the future, and help Vattenfall succeed in its mission to make fossil free living possible within one generation.

What will you do?

As defense incl. aviation and radar issues, both in relation to military and commercial operators, can provide significant risk to wind projects, you will manage the associated short and long term risks and work with stakeholders and the wider industry to find suitable solutions. You will be in charge of a mix of portfolio management, stakeholder and policy management, commercial negotiation and technical knowledge.

You will act as a lead for a group of people forming Vattenfall’s center of expertise in all matters relating to defense incl. aviation and maritime during all phases of our projects, including site selection, permitting, project delivery and project operations.

Your tasks and responsibilities: 

  • Planning and coordinating work with the rest of Defense Team
  • Steer Vattenfall’s strategy regarding defense (aviation and radar) from a consenting stand point
  • Work closely with relevant stakeholders within Vattenfall to ensure alignment on communication with authorities
  • Engagement with statutory authorities, stakeholders and relevant governmental departments
  • Working with specialist from across multiple teams, including our Health, Safety & Quality team, our Environmental & Sustainability Team and our Security & Resilience team, plus with Project Directors and their Technical, Development and Commercial Project Managers
  • Project lead any related Research & Developments and Innovation work packages

Location

Work place can be in Kolding in Denmark, Amsterdam in The Netherlands, Hamburg in Germany, London in UK or Stockholm in Sweden. Some travel internationally has to be expected.

Furthermore, you have:

  • Relevant degree in aviation, defense, engineering or a tactical education from the Navy or similar
  • Minimum 5 years relevant work experience in aviation and/or defense and solid understanding of operations and systems
  • Experience in project management and functionally managed a team
  • Knowledge of renewable energy policy
  • Health and safety as the highest priority
  • Excellent communication skills in English both written and spoke
