Toxic management styles hidden away behind a great team

Arbeitsatmosphäre

Within the marketing team there has always been an amazing spirit. I have worked alongside amazingly talented and passionate people. Unfortunately the current management is not rewarding extra projects or extra efforts in any way - instead it is expected in certain positions to work 60h plus without so much as a Thanks!
Management has changed multiple times in the last 3 years, pulling down team spirits every time. Currently they are facing huge challenges in pulling together what is left of a team. Fluctuating on an all time high it is very hard to keep a positive mindset within the workplace.

Kommunikation

Communication has always been an issue. Even though the infrastructure offers multiple benefits like Teams, Jira and Confluence - it was never managed to really inform all people involved about changes or updates. Leading to multiple issues and tons of extra work for certain teams.
Mothly and weekly meetings do exist but don’t cover all topics.
Way too many emails - way too many unnecessary feedback loops.

Kollegenzusammenhalt

The team has always been the best thing about JC! Team spirits have always been very strong and even with a fair amount people leaving it was always managed to keep up the good vibe.

Unfortunately this year, management has lost touch of a lot of great colleagues leading to a lack of team spirit und a lot of unhappiness.

Work-Life-Balance

Work Life Balance did not exist in my position. Even though it was very clear to everyone in the company that I was completely drowning, more tasks and projects were dropped on me weekly.

Being told to work less and in the same talk adding more work to someone’s plate is a regular occurrence.

Vorgesetztenverhalten

My team lead is the most amazing person ever! I truly loved working with her. Same goes for the Marketing Lead. However Management in general is lacking understanding of where known issues are coming from and have lost touch of the people and with that making it incredibly hard to be understanding of changes.

Interessante Aufgaben

Tasks are never the same and it never gets boring. A lot of cool extra projects - however after managing too many projects it became self explanatory that I would be in charge of bonus projects at all times. Doing great will ALWAYS lead to extra work.

Gleichberechtigung

Girl power truly has a HUGE impact on the story and success of JC! People of all colors and over 20 nationalities are working together without any sign of discrimination.

However, since majority shares were bought by a German corporation it does feel like German employees receive extra credit.

Umgang mit älteren Kollegen

Not many “older colleagues”, however, I have never felt like age had an impact on anyone.

Arbeitsbedingungen

Home office during the pandemic - however it was not liked to take home equipment. Technical equipment in general was outdated and poorly functioning. It was refused to buy new MacBooks for long term employees even though they had confirmation of working with a Mac since joining JC.

Biggest plus: Office dogs welcome!

Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein

Time to step up the game! Products still fail to match current market standards for sustainability and resources are rather cheap than of proper quality.

Gehalt/Sozialleistungen

Salary is fine. However, not for all positions. Lack of transparency when it comes to salaries and vacation days - leading to the feeling of not being treated equally often.

No further benefits.

Image

JC has been facing quite some shitstorms due to a lack of management and communication in the last year. Image and customer satisfaction is still suffering to this day.

Karriere/Weiterbildung

For me personally, there was a steady climb from position to position.
