A workplace defined by fear and poor leadership
Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich
Salaries are always paid on time.
Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich
There is a deeply rooted imbalance in how employees are treated. Hardworking and competent team members are often overlooked or criticized. This lack of fairness undermines team spirit and long-term motivation.
Verbesserungsvorschläge
Treat employees with the respect and transparency they deserve, and the constant turnover may finally slow down. Focus on creating a culture where ideas and feedback (especially from younger or newer employees) are truly welcomed and implemented, rather than dismissed. Modernize internal processes and aim to create a workplace built on trust instead of fear and rigid hierarchy.
Additionally, I would strongly recommend allowing honest employee feedback to remain visible rather than requesting its removal. Transparency is a key part of any meaningful improvement — which I’m sure is the company’s ultimate goal.
Arbeitsatmosphäre
The daily atmosphere is tense and emotionally draining. Even on quiet days, a general sense of discomfort hangs in the air. Gossip is unfortunately a constant part of office life, and it's difficult to avoid becoming entangled in it. Rather than fostering a respectful environment, some colleagues actively monitor and report on others, even tracking how long someone spends away from their desk. The overall dynamic is defined by fear rather than trust, which creates anxiety and discourages honest collaboration.
Image
The company’s internal reputation is not strong. Most employees speak negatively about the workplace, though only in private, due to fear of repercussions. Public image is mostly maintained, but internally, there is a widespread sense of dissatisfaction and disillusionment.
Work-Life-Balance
A real work-life balance is nearly impossible here due to the constant stress and negativity that follows you even after work hours. Overtime is often expected but not compensated, despite contractual agreements. There's a strong culture of surveillance and suspicion, including inappropriate attention to colleagues’ private lives. Presence in the office is valued more than actual performance or productivity, which undermines trust and motivation.
Karriere/Weiterbildung
Opportunities for growth or promotion are extremely limited. Advancement does not seem to be based on merit, performance, or contribution. Talented and hardworking employees are often overlooked. This creates frustration and a sense of stagnation for those who are truly invested in doing good work.
Gehalt/Benefits
While salaries are paid punctually and are not unusually low, the criteria for determining salary levels appear inconsistent and highly subjective. Compensation does not clearly reflect responsibility, experience, or performance. Only the most basic benefits are offered, with no clear structure for advancement or recognition beyond the minimum.
Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein
Sustainability practices are noticeably lacking. Recycling is inconsistent, and many outdated, resource-heavy workflows are still in place. A move toward greater digitalization could improve both environmental and operational efficiency, but there seems to be little interest in modernizing.
Kollegenzusammenhalt
There is minimal solidarity among colleagues. While a few individuals are cooperative and professional, they often leave the company quickly due to dissatisfaction. High turnover makes it difficult to build a stable and supportive team, and remaining employees are frequently burdened with onboarding new hires who often leave shortly after. The few hardworking employees carry a disproportionate amount of responsibility while others show little accountability, leading to regular chaos and missed deadlines.
Umgang mit älteren Kollegen
Older colleagues are treated respectfully in terms of day-to-day interactions. However, some of them significantly contribute to the negative atmosphere in the office by fueling gossip and interpersonal tensions. Although this behavior is visible and often commented on, it is not addressed by management.
Vorgesetztenverhalten
In my experience, leadership behavior was one of the most challenging aspects of the company. Decisions often seemed influenced by personal agendas or power dynamics rather than professionalism or fairness. I personally found it uncomfortable that comments were made from time to time that touched on topics like appearance, finances, or personal background — remarks that I perceived as inappropriate or insensitive.
Rules and expectations did not always appear to be applied consistently: some employees seemed to receive preferential treatment, while others were reprimanded over minor issues. Speaking up with ideas or feedback felt discouraged, and the atmosphere was marked by mistrust and tight control. While team events had the potential to foster team spirit, I sometimes felt uncomfortable with the expectations to dress up, perform, or contribute food, which didn't feel entirely voluntary.
Arbeitsbedingungen
The office follows an open-plan layout which makes it hard to concentrate due to frequent noise and interruptions. Ironically, the same colleagues who demand quiet are often the least respectful of others' need for it. Equipment and technology are outdated. While a few employees receive upgraded tools, many others must work with hardware that is severely outdated, impacting efficiency and fairness.
Kommunikation
Communication within the company is severely lacking. Important updates are often withheld for unclear reasons, leading to confusion, delays, and frustration during projects. Employees frequently comment on the lack of transparency, but nothing changes. Despite claims of a “flat hierarchy” and “family atmosphere,” the reality is quite the opposite — critical information is controlled from the top down, and honest feedback is not welcome.
Interessante Aufgaben
The work itself has potential. The clients and industries involved are often engaging, and there is room to learn. However, the toxic work environment and lack of professional conduct make it hard to enjoy or take pride in the job. The constant internal stress and dysfunction even affect interactions with clients at times, making the work feel frustrating instead of rewarding.
