Not about the employer! But the local team itself is composed of professional, capable colleagues who are supportive and competent within their roles.
Only consider joining this company if you genuinely have no better options. The problems are structural and start at the top.
*Management & Strategy*
There is a clear gap between headquarters and the German market. Local input is consistently ignored, and decisions are made without understanding how the market actually works. Strategies are not adapted to regional realities, which leads to poor results.
There is no clear market entry strategy. People without relevant experience (or any work experience whatsoever) are responsible for developing and implementing strategy, which leads to avoidable mistakes and weak execution.
*Leadership*
Upper management lacks the necessary leadership and management skills, as well as relevant experience. There is a noticeable lack of understanding of the business model, and decisions are often uninformed and inconsistent.
Professional conduct and respect in interactions with employees are lacking. Communication is inadequate and poor, and there is no clear accountability from leadership. Expectations are unrealistic: employees are expected to perform at a high level, while leadership itself fails to provide the necessary direction, support, or example.
*Human Resources*
HR lacks structure and professionalism and is not equipped to handle basic responsibilities. There is no transparency, communication is inconsistent, and employee concerns are not handled properly.
*Conclusion*
The company has serious deficiencies in leadership quality, strategic direction, and internal processes. These issues have a direct negative impact on both employees and overall performance. Anyone considering joining should read these reviews carefully and think twice before making such a decision.
The work environment is demanding but lacks structure and clarity. Employees are expected to deliver strong results without a solid strategic foundation or guidance, creating unnecessary pressure and inefficiencies.
Employees are expected to compensate for structural problems without having the tools or support to do so.
HR deliberately withholds key information from candidates during the recruitment process, fully aware that many would decline the offer if they knew the role requires being in the office every day.
Employment conditions are basic and offer little beyond minimum standards, with no effort to create a fair and transparent environment.
Like almost everything.
Where do you want to start, so basically start the company new from scratch. The methods are outdated, and it's a strange place to be.
The only good thing in this company is the german team, it's nice to work with most of them
Let's start with the only truly positive aspect of Lalamove: the german team.
In the areas of driver services, sales, and marketing, you will find highly motivated young professionals with a strong social mindset and, in many cases, impressive international and professional backgrounds. Many employees are committed, open-minded, and willing to go the extra mile.
The human capital at Lalamove has real potential. Unfortunately, this potential is rarely utilized and ultimately suppressed by strategic and organizational decisions made in Hong Kong.
The most concerning issue is the discrepancy between stated values and lived reality. A healthy on-demand platform depends on fair, transparent, and respectful treatment of all employees, both office workers and drivers on the road.
Furthermore, the structure of employment contracts is another area of concern. Employees are not informed transparently before starting work that they are formally employed through a temporary employment agency. These contracts are limited to the legal minimum standards and offer little or no job security, career continuity, or social protection beyond what is required by law.
This arrangement creates maximum operational flexibility for the employer, while transferring almost all of the risk to the employee. In a market such as Germany, where transparency and job security are important factors in building trust, this approach significantly damages credibility and long-term employee relationships.
When teams feel unheard or strategically ignored, motivation and credibility quickly drops. In Germany, word spreads fast, especially in on demand industries and negative perceptions are difficult to recover from.
At the moment, Lalamove has great employees but weak fundamentals in the German market. Without a fundamental rethink of its business model, regulatory strategy, B2B approach, and employee relations, it is unlikely that the company will be successful in Germany in the long term. And the decent performers will leave the sinking ship.
Lalamove seems to be applying a concept that may work in parts of Asia, but is not scalable and does not work in the German market. The assumption that on-demand logistics can be introduced in Germany using the same operational, legal, and cultural logic as in Hong Kong or Southeast Asia is fundamentally wrong.
Many of the challenges that Lalamove faces are well documented from Uber's & Wolt's early failures in Germany: Misjudging labor laws and regulations for contractors, underestimating labor unions and legal frameworks, assuming that speed and capital can replace compliance and trust.
These lessons were available, but were not properly understood. As a result, the same mistakes are being repeated, and the outcome will likely be the same.
German bureaucracy is not an issue that can be “optimized.” It is a system that you must integrate into your strategy from day one. Legal certainty, licensing, insurance structures, and documentation are not optional extras, they are essential elements for a successful business.
At this point, Lalamove is at least two steps behind in all aspects, and serious consequences are definitely to be expected in the near future.
Too much authority is placed in untrained hands. There is a clear lack of competence, professional education, and stable leadership background. HR appears to act purely as an extension of Hong Kong headquarters, with little independence. Decisions feel subjective and irrational, and there is a strong impression of excessive monitoring that undermines trust. The environment feels unsafe, unprofessional, and poorly led. The company’s expansion approach is poorly prepared for the German market. The expansion team lacks a real understanding of local market dynamics and relies on superficial, questionable market research.
There is no clear sales strategy, no CRM tools, and no structured sales processes in place. Sales expectations are focused on door-to-door style activities with unrealistic or non-scalable target industries and little measurable impact.
HR processes and working conditions are unstructured and lack transparency. Aft just two weeks, my employment was terminated due to alleged poor performance, despite unclear expectations, insufficient onboarding, and no fair performance evaluation.
