A family-like working atmosphere is a big plus. It's never a problem to approach a senior employee and bring up new projects you would like to work on.
Team events, beer with colleagues on Friday evenings is also nice to have.

I think it would make sense for the employer to improve the work-life balance. Generally, the job content is compelling but working overtime on a daily basis makes people less enthusiastic.
