As Compliance Officer and Money Laundering Reporting Officer (SMF16/SMF17), you will lead RBI UK's Compliance and Financial Crime function, ensuring adherence to UK regulatory requirements while supporting the business in achieving its strategic objectives. You will act as the primary liaison with UK regulators and provide trusted advice to senior management on regulatory compliance, governance, and financial crime matters.

In this senior leadership role, you will combine regulatory expertise, stakeholder management, and strategic oversight to strengthen the firm's compliance framework, promote a strong culture of integrity, and safeguard sustainable business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the firm's SMF16 Compliance Oversight and SMF17 Money Laundering Reporting Officer.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory authorities and oversee regulatory reporting obligations.
  • Provide strategic compliance and regulatory advice to senior management and governance committees.
  • Maintain and enhance compliance policies, procedures, controls, and governance frameworks.
  • Oversee the firm's AML, sanctions, and financial crime risk management framework, including investigations, escalations, and suspicious activity reporting.
  • Lead the firm's SMCR governance processes, including Certification Regime requirements and Fitness & Propriety assessments.
  • Promote a strong culture of compliance, integrity, and good conduct across the organization.

Your Core Competencies:

  • Extensive compliance leadership experience within banking, investment banking, or financial services.
  • Strong knowledge of FCA regulations, financial crime requirements, AML, sanctions, and regulatory governance.
  • Experience holding SMF16 and/or SMF17 responsibilities or a comparable senior regulatory role.
  • Proven ability to engage effectively with regulators, senior management, and international stakeholders.
  • Strong judgment, integrity, and stakeholder management skills.

Reporting Line:

You will report to the General Manager UK Branch and Group Head of Compliance while working closely with Risk, Legal, Financial Crime, and Head Office functions.

Regulatory Status:

This role is subject to the Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SMCR). The role holder must comply with FCA Conduct Rules, meet Fit and Proper requirements on an ongoing basis, and complete mandatory compliance and financial crime trainings.

What's in it for you:

  • Opportunity to hold a key leadership role within an international banking group.
  • High visibility with senior management, regulators, and international stakeholders.
  • Exposure to strategic regulatory initiatives and governance matters in a complex banking environment.
  • A collaborative environment with flexible working arrangements and ongoing development opportunities.
  • A competitive benefits package, including pension, insurance, wellbeing, and mobility-related benefits, subject to the applicable scheme rules.
  • The final salary package will be discussed with you in person and will reflect your experience and qualifications.
