What you will work on

• The next generation of AI-powered data landscape: Combining Databricks, Machine Learning and Generative AI to provide value add services to our customers and internal stakeholders.
• Modern Data Platforms: Design, build, and operate scalable data pipelines and lakehouse architectures on Databricks, enabling efficient ingestion, transformation, and serving of structured and unstructured data.
• AI-Ready Data Foundations: Develop data models and pipelines tailored for Machine Learning and Generative AI use cases, ensuring high data quality, lineage, and governance.
• Genie & Intelligent Data Access: Implement and optimize Databricks Genie and similar semantic/AI-driven data interaction layers to enable intuitive, business-facing access to enterprise data.
• Machine Learning Enablement: Collaborate with data scientists to operationalize ML workflows, including feature engineering, model training pipelines, and MLOps integration.
• Generative AI & RAG Pipelines: Build and support RAG-based architectures, embedding pipelines, and vector search capabilities on Databricks to power next-generation AI-driven services for customers and internal stakeholders.
• Data Engineering Excellence: Ensure high-performing, reliable, and cost-efficient data processing using state of the art technologies and frameworks.
• Work closely with Data Scientists, AI engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate data requirements into scalable technical solutions.

What you bring with you

• Background: 5+ years of experience in data engineering, ideally within regulated industries (finance, public sector, logistics).
• Databricks Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with Databricks, including Delta Lake, Spark, Unity Catalog, workflows, and lakehouse architecture design.
• Machine Learning & MLOps: Proven experience supporting or building ML pipelines, feature stores, and model lifecycle management.
• Generative AI Understanding: Practical exposure to Generative AI concepts (e.g., embeddings, vector databases, RAG architectures) and integrating them into data platforms.
• Genie / Semantic Layer Experience: Experience with Databricks Genie or similar semantic/AI-driven data access solutions is a strong plus.
• Programming Skills: Strong proficiency in Python for data engineering and ML workflows
• Cloud & DevOps: Experience with Azure (preferred), including data services and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with Microsoft Power Platform and Copilot Studio are a plus.
• Data Governance & Standards: Understanding of data security, governance, and compliance requirements in enterprise environments.
• Education & Certifications: Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field; relevant Databricks or Azure certifications are a plus.
• Languages: Minimum German B1 level for internal collaboration and fluent English skills.
