Great place to work and grow! At atrain people from around the world work together to have a measurable positive impact on individuals, teams and organizations. Readiness to take responsibility and think creatively and innovatively are highly appreciated and fostered.
Work hours can be intense and learning goes often along with being challenged and stretched.
The work atmosphere is positive and supportive and every effort to further develop the conditions for a nice work atmosphere are encouraged. atrain provides for example a game room with sofas, playstation and foosball as well as joint team lunches or team activities.
The work hours can be quite intense and some projects require traveling on Saturdays or Sundays. There is the possibility to take compensation time, but overall the work hours are not 9-to-5.
Great collaboration, team spirit and intercultural exchange are part of atrain's DNA. Even in stressful times colleagues support each other and think and act with other people's perspective in mind. Many people here are not only colleagues, but also friends and it's normal to go for a pizza or watching a soccer match after work.
The management team is very engaged to shape the fast evolving company in a way that ensures the delivery of high quality services for all customers and the best development opportunities for employees. All necessary steps in this direction are taken involving all employees.
atrain is growing very fast, which makes it necessary to move and change offices quite often, with some hiccups sometimes in the first weeks. I personally highly appreciate the office and how it is set up, as is is directly in the city center - great to spend breaks in the sun, a restaurant nearby or also some in-between-shopping. In addition, the 3 of the 4 offices are in really beautiful historic buildings with modern equipment inside.
Communiation and involvement are taken care of, e.g. with the monthly business update newsletter and regular town halls. Sometimes however information is not shared fast enough or leaks, so not everybody has the full picture of what's going on at the same time.
Most of the topics to work on are very intersting, exciting and challenging in a good way. It's very motivating to work on projects that have a real impact for atrain's customers and do not only allow for but require creativity, critical thinking and result orientation.
inspiration, vision, illusion to be able to make a contribution, innovation
working atmosphere of constant fear and submission; feedback culture that results in humiliation; friction between what is presented to customers via what is practiced internally
Challenge yourselves - move out of your comfort zones - listen to those who mean well but are not "atrain-grown"
If you are constantly afraid of making mistakes or being coached/feedbacked into humiliation, nothing can make up for it. Instead of constructive support I had to experience an atmosphere of insecurity, competition, anxiety and stress.
How could you recommend a former employer who treats its employees exactly the opposite from what it teaches to its customers?
In theory, every option with regard to home office, remote office, compensation time exist. Unfortunately, the leadership team gives exactly the wrong example - delegation and trust not being part of the culture - which makes it difficult for employees without bad conscience to make use of the options offered.
In this company, you have to find out yourself what your areas of development are, what you need to learn and to develop.
At least, there are some moves towards spending massive amounts of printed material - hopefully, this trend is going to settle..
Two factors are glue to what makes atrain employees stick together: The kind of illusion, passion and hope to be part of the "atrain way" as well as the atmosphere of fear and obedience. This results from the fact that if you do not stick to what it "atrain" you are automatically against it, threatening the entire business. In sum, colleagues are great, supportive with each other, but would never dare to speak up or seriously challenge.
The majority of th employees come straight from University. Even the leadership team does not age more than a couple of years beyond 25. Which makes it extremely difficult for anyone with some experience outside this company, or some seniority, to be accepted by the inner circle.
Even though he sets the vision and pace everyone succumbs to, as leadership person he shines with absence. Unfortunate, that despite/ because of his flat hierarchical managerial leadership style, he and his decision are not taken seriously by those accountable for implementation. It's a pity that despite the vision and passion he radiates, he ultimately remains the gray eminence, however, without the power to actually provide clear leadership.
Several people crowded on small spaces. IT infrastructure functioning upon chance. The positive being: colleagues close and up for exchange. If you really want to get some work done: better stay home and work "remote office".
NO: The most crucial information for your personal success was withheld until it was too late already. Information crucial for newcomers to onboard happened in an unstructured, haphazard manner. Communication is welcomed if supporting the "atrain party", however, if somebody challenges this, one is against it...
Just look at the ratio of people "having the say" at this company, one might wonder...
Unfortunately, I have not been able to work in the product area I was hired for. Throughout my job duration I suffered from not being to exposed to the tasks I was hired for. Even though some people were absolutely overloaded, I never got the chance to truly be exposed to work experiences.
Sehr gute Praktikantenbetreuung.
