Brainlab is very dynamic, so communication must happen fast and directly. That can be challenging at times, but you always find someone who listens, thinks with you, and helps to find a solution. Conversations are straightforward and honest.
This is probably the biggest reason I’ve stayed for two decades: the people. We’ve handled so many complex projects together, and many colleagues have become friends. We support each other, we laugh together, we face challenges as a team and spend even private time together.
That spirit has carried us a long way.
Many of us are ready to walk the extra mile - for their teammates, our products, and our customers. At the same time, Brainlab offers a lot that helps maintain balance: a fully financed gym, amazing subsidized food, flexibility for personal matters, and even a sabbatical, which I was grateful to take. You get the trust to manage your own balance, even when the work can be demanding.
Leadership at Brainlab is dynamic and sometimes fast-changing. Priorities shift, decisions come quickly, and you need to stay adaptable. But you’re never alone in that. We work through challenges together and always try to find solutions as a team. As a manager, I personally try to support everyone individually and consider their personal situations - and that approach is very much aligned with the culture here.
There’s no shortage of interesting and meaningful work. Right after my apprenticeship, I was entrusted with critical parts of our infrastructure. Since then, I’ve been part of countless exciting and complex projects. What motivates me most is knowing that the products we develope support doctors in saving lives - around the world. That purpose drives me every single day.
After almost 20 years at Brainlab IT, the atmosphere still feels special. It’s open, friendly, and filled with people who genuinely care about what they do. Even when things get hectic, the way we treat each other stays respectful and supportive. Many of us have been here for a long time, and that creates a sense of togetherness that honestly feels a bit like family. I have the pleasure to work with some of my best friends for years!
