Employee morale has declined in recent 2 years, especially after the shift to a four-day week, despite repeated assurances in all-hands meetings, and unplanned expenses on company trips have added to frustration.

Although long hours are somewhat expected in a startup, leadership does not account for them when planning, and consistently working well beyond contracted hours without proper compensation made work–life balance very difficult.

I often felt uncertain about the reliability of information shared, which made it difficult to trust leadership communications.

Initially, the founders led with respect and the company had a positive work culture, but the new addition to the leadership has shifted focus to delivering at any cost, creating unrealistic timelines, contributing to burnout, and introducing a negative, informal work culture, alongside perceived favouritism.

Management often communicates decisions unclearly, and employee input does not always seem to be acted upon.

Gehalt/Benefits

The salary is generally fair and in line with industry standards, but pay rises are infrequent, and ‘dry promotions’. Where more work is expected without additional compensation have become the new normal.

Colleagues are open and friendly, and try to help, although in the last year they have been heavily overloaded and are on the verge of burnout.

Es gibt eine 40-Stunden Woche. Jeder Mitarbeiter und jede Mitarbeiterin kann sich seine Arbeitszeit jedoch selbstständig einteilen. Außerdem gibt es Angebote wie Home Office oder Workation.

Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein

CELUS achtet sehr auf Nachhaltigkeit. Als Firmenwägen werden E-Autos benutzt, in der Küche findet man ausschließlich fair und nachhaltig hergestellte Snacks und auch bei der Auswahl von Werbemitteln (z.B. Hoodies oder Taschen) wird auf Umweltschutz sowie die Förderung sozialer Projekte und regionaler Produkte geachtet.

Kommunikation

Die Ziele des Unternehmens werden klar kommuniziert. Es gibt mehrmals Feedback-Runden, um sich auszutauschen und weiterzuentwickeln. Dabei wird auf ein professionelles Vorgehen und konstruktive Kritik geachtet.

Interessante Aufgaben

Obwohl es mein erstes Praktikum in dieser Branche war, durfte ich eigenständig an verschiedenen Projekten arbeiten. Dabei wurde mir stets die Freiheit gegeben, anzumerken, welche Bereiche / Tätigkeiten mich besonders interessieren und woran ich daher am liebsten arbeiten wollte.

I love the flexibility of the work from the office or remotely. I think it is a huge plus that we are able to use the latest equipment, like MacBook Pro or an Apple headset.
