Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich

It was a great, fairly small company at first. I liked my team and I felt listened to by supervisors and management.

Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich

A change in leadership combined with newfound focus on expanding aggressively across the city unfortunately made me leave the company with not a single nice thing to say about the management team, particularly the operations team. The open communication I enjoyed at the start of my employment disappeared entirely, urgent repairs were ignored for months, and management increasingly made severe mistakes. I only found out after leaving the company that one of my fellow team members was responsible for secretly reporting goings on to the operations head in the absence of a real supervisor.

What was once a lovely place to work turned into one of the worst working experiences of my life and has severely effected my outlook on the Berlin coffee industry moving forward.

Arbeitsatmosphäre

Broken equipment, request for repairs largely ignored. Fellow baristas were lovely however, great team (outside of management).

Vorgesetztenverhalten

Management (particularly operations) was arrogant and stubborn, had no respect for baristas. There was no process of accountability for mismanagement, for the constant mistakes they made. Showed signs of clear favouritism, getting baristas they liked to report on their colleague's performance behind their backs.

thanks for sharing your feedback, and we am sorry to hear you did not have a good experience with the company. To answer some points you raised: 

A. From your review, it stands out that you worked with us in 2023. In 2023, we opened only one additional Cafe (our 4th one) which resulted in adding additional 3 new Baristas and 2 supervisors to the team. Furthermore, the plan to hire supervisors (the change leadership we assume you are mentioning) for our biggest locations was to actually remove some obstacles in the daily work of the staff - and the request to hire them actually came from feedback from the team. 

B. No one is *responsible* for talking about others behind their backs or reporting other staff members. It can happen that some staff members complain about other coworkers because they are not happy about the collaboration, they feel frustrated because they need to pick up the slack for others, etc., but there's no favoritism toward the opinions of some people, and no one requests staff members to report on others.

C. There is a process in place to collect feedback about the management work, which focuses on collecting and reviewing our staff's anonymous quarterly surveys. We use these surveys to monitor people's experiences in the company and we made several decisions based on those outcomes.

D. We consider "urgent" the repairs that would block or severely hinder cafe operations. Everything else may take longer due to the speed of the service we receive, which is not under our control, or due to a cost VS opportunity evaluation that we do, which sometimes takes time.
