I really like the regular exchange between the developers and the current tech stack.
It often feels like developers end up being the cleanup crew for product work that wasn’t properly prepared. The same pattern repeats: a new “great idea” has to be implemented immediately, even though the problem isn’t fully understood, requirements stay vague, key details get postponed with a “we’ll figure it out later,” and the real impact only becomes visible once we’re already deep into implementation, as if that’s just normal. People call it “agile,” but in reality, it’s more like chaos with Scrum terms on top: priorities change mid-sprint, alignment happens after decisions were already made. Instead of building the product steadily, it ends up feeling like we’re jumping from fix to fix, just hoping nothing major blows up.
Developers need more appreciation as real partners, not just ticket implementers. That’s not only about money, but also about how work is prepared, how much context and ownership they get, and whether they’re equipped with the right tools to do the job properly.
The working atmosphere is low at the moment. Of course, there are the missing salary adjustments, but also the ongoing confusion in product development, with repeatedly unclear, not well-defined ideas. This is very stressful for the development teams, which have to modernise the platform simultaneously.
Work-life balance depends heavily on the team you’re in. Some teams operate under noticeably higher pressure and a constant delivery mode. On top of that, when individual performance in the team is weak, the workload often gets redistributed to the people who are already delivering — meaning you end up picking up extra tasks to keep things moving. In reality, work-life balance is good for some but not consistently across the company.
Career opportunities are very limited, as there are currently no changes or growth. Additional training opportunities are available within the budget, but unfortunately, there is a lack of coordination with future technological challenges, and restrictions are in place to ensure that not too many people attend the same conference. In addition, it is expected that new knowledge will also be easily acquired during work alongside normal tasks. Therfore more attention should be paid to ensuring that developers are well prepared for future challenges.
The salary is average. However, I think it's unfair that too much attention is given to salary bands rather than individual performance. Especially when you see that the workload is unevenly distributed. This reduces daily motivation.
Team spirit is generally good. You can ask questions anytime, and you’ll usually get a helpful answer. Lately, though, it feels like more people are optimizing for visibility and promotion, doing “their own thing” to stand out instead of pulling in the same direction. That kind of ego-driven work is creeping up, and it means important shared tasks get dropped or delayed. When you’re trying to deliver a bigger feature that needs real teamwork, it becomes seriously frustrating.
Managers are there, but it feels like they're just supposed to manage us all somehow and concentrate on the problem cases. Agreed yearly goals are often not met or made possible due to daily project work. Sometimes I also miss opportunities for honesty about my personal development. The real feedback usually only comes when you apply for other jobs but don't get them.
The working environment is good thanks to 100% remote working. However, the technical setup, with poor VPN access, constantly having to request permissions, and not being able to use certain standard tools because the company would rather save on licensing costs than enable developers, makes everyday life uncomfortable for developers.
You simply work based on what others have decided. Topics are defined, and the tech stack is clear. As a developer, you just do your tickets: a new endpoint or a new Vue component. The most interesting thing usually happens when something doesn't work as expected because the topics weren't well prepared. But then it's more stressful than interesting work.
Tech stack, you can increase your market value fast and leave.
Communication, intransparency of salaries and raises, brainwashing everyone into the "family but no pay" and "money isnt important" lie.
Drowning out workforce to say months after it was already decided that there is no pay raise. Most tech guys have no raise for 2,3,4 or more years and are sick of it.
Mutli culutirsm is abused here as workforce frlm outside eu is locked in as they cant easily find another job.
EWD uses this to then not increase salaries.
Stop pretending to be a tech-first company until you start valuing the people who build your platforms. Pay market-rate salaries, share the record profits with the workforce, and stop being petty about basic benefits. Respect is earned, and right now, the Group is losing the respect of its entire digital workforce.
Eurowings Digital tries hard to project a "cool tech hub" image, but beneath the surface, it’s governed by the same rigid, penny-pinching mentality as the rest of the Lufthansa Group. If you are a high-performing engineer, be warned: your hard work fuels executive bonuses and record-breaking group profits, while you are met with salary freezes and a total lack of tangible appreciation.
"Quiet quitting" and "Strictly by the book" are becoming the norm here—not because people are lazy, but because there is zero incentive to go the extra mile.
This is the dealbreaker. For a almost every position, the compensation is not competitive with the current market, especially considering the lack of adjustments for inflation. In a year where the company celebrates its 100th anniversary with record margins, they couldn't even find the budget for team hoodies or basic appreciation tokens. It is a masterclass in how to alienate your most valuable talent.
Even if you negotiate well why entering, there will be almost zero increases afterwards for most of the tech staff which will let them leave the company afterwards.
The only thing keeping teams together is shared gallows humor. The engineers are brilliant, but they are increasingly frustrated by being ignored by a board that celebrates billions in profit while cutting the most basic team benefits.
Leadership is disconnected. They preach "Lufthansa Family" values in webcasts while simultaneously overseeing a "Nullrunde" (zero-percent salary increase) during a record financial year. There is a massive gap between the "digital spearhead" rhetoric and the reality of how technical leads are actually treated.
While the tech stack is decent, innovation is frequently suffocated by "Corporate Governance" and "Compliance" walls. You spend more time navigating bureaucracy and explaining technical latencies to stakeholders than actually building cutting-edge solutions.

I can only say positive things about my experience at Eurowings Digital. The hiring process was incredibly fast and seamless. The HR recruiter immediately understood which position would be the perfect fit for me. From day one, my team welcomed me so warmly that I never felt like the "new person" – and this truly applies to all employees here.
Although high standards are expected, there’s an atmosphere of understanding and willingness to help. You never feel like you’re bothering your colleagues when you need support. I’ve never worked for an employer that’s so employee-oriented while also placing so much trust in its team. What’s particularly commendable is the strong emphasis on cultural fit, ensuring that everyone gets along well and that the team dynamics are always positive.
You genuinely look forward to coming to work because a lot of emphasis is placed on creating a comfortable atmosphere on-site. The work itself is diverse, demands agility, and is perfect for anyone who enjoys being empowered. The regular team events also help turn colleagues into friends you’re happy to spend time with outside of work. Eurowings Digital is truly an employer where you can feel completely at home.

YES!
there was NO boring task to any time
I've had a horrible experience at the company. Firstly, I was hired for a position while the company still had an agency working on the tasks that I was supposed to be doing. But let's start with the fact that the manager, is quite unprofessional. According to her CV, she is the manager of the team and she doesn't have relevant education + not that many years of experience. She barely had time to explain anything, giving my onboarding to a person who was not interested in doing it.
So I started working with a clear task from her "to take things from the agency". Then at some point, it happens that the agency had 0 clue that their contract is about to get terminated. She didn't tell them anything and of course, they got extremely pissed and contacted their manager. So she literally put a newcomer in an extremely uncomfortable situation. All the time I've had to fight with the agency for my own tasks. These guys, who figured that they are about to lose a very expensive contract, made my life hell on an everyday basis.
Then, a member of my team, I hope he never becomes anyone's manager because the guy is a perfect bully, was extremely horrible to me. A simple example: I'd ask him to check things with me in the meeting, we'd have a call, he would tell me that it's all fine but then he would leave public comments pointing out all my mistakes which I literally asked him to check 2 hours before.
When I complained to the manager that the team member is literally bullying me, she just ignored me. Then she made a list of very weird "things to improve" which included things like "be more reliable" or other things that you cannot measure or improve. She never answered my logical question "how do you measure soft skills" and what the hell these skills are doing in the performance check. I've never seen such an unprofessional manager in my life. Tons of expectations, zero compassion, zero empathy. Then, without even talking to me, I came to a regular 1:1 meeting where in 7 min (no joke) I was told that she doesn't see me in her team and I have to leave. This is not a joke. The company that always brags so much about the culture keeps this kind of manager. That's all - no proper feedback, nothing. They've literally blocked my account almost right away so I had to ask for 4 months for my payslips. |
So my advice - think twice before working with these people. You won't have any teaching/onboarding/empathy.
Just horrible

Allerdings geht jeder Tag doch meist recht lang.
So verdient kununu Geld.
