I was the engineer in the platform team
Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich
Flexible working arrangements (e.g., remote work) have made it easier to manage work-life balance.
There are talented individuals in the company who genuinely care about the quality of their work.
Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich
There's little to no accountability or transparency in decision-making. Most people are just trying to survive, not thrive.
Culture is essentially gone. People don’t feel heard, respected, or motivated. Most are checked out or planning their exit.
Verbesserungsvorschläge
Engineering is full of internal politics. People are more focused on playing the game than doing the work. Collaboration is minimal and trust is low. Promotions in leaderships are based on favoritism, not merit or experience. The most inexperienced person was promoted, which demotivated the rest of the team.
The relocation of engineering overhead to Istanbul seems more like a personal move by the CTO than a strategic one. “Cost saving” is a convenient excuse, but the impact on team cohesion and communication has been negative.
Bringing dogs to the office is great but also make sure that they do not jump on people while they are working.
Vorgesetztenverhalten
I would advise caution when considering the Platform team. In my experience, they tend to operate at a surface level and currently lack strong, effective leadership.
Arbeitsbedingungen
Hire and Fire. Happening since last few years. Looking at the engineering managers leaving due to politics is concerning.
Kommunikation
It seems like some organizations are overly focused on mimicking others by establishing values just to appear comparable. Companies like Amazon and Uber didn’t start by formalizing operating principles, they focused on a single, clear vision: to grow and deliver exceptional value to customers. The emphasis should be on purpose and execution, not just adopting frameworks for the sake of it."
