The open atmosphere at Garmin encourages collaboration and management has an open door policy making them very approachable. I was always treated fairly at Garmin and could approach my superior and other leaders if I had concerns.
I was always supported by my superiors at Garmin. I had 3 different superior's while at Garmin. My superiors provided me with constructive feedback that I needed to grow and advance my position and career. My superiors valued my opinion and asked for my input. My superiors also granted me much autonomy which showed they had confidence in my abilities and decision making (as opposed to hovering/checking everything I did).
I think the employees are the top key to making organizations excel and I felt like I was a part of the Garmin family. The attitude is one of teamwork and helping other team members succeed is very encouraged. If I needed help in accomplishing something, I knew I could count on my colleagues for their support. I remain in contact with many of my ex-colleagues today and consider many of them true friends that I'll have for life. I think this is very special and not many organizations have this aspect.
I worked on many different tasks at while at Garmin and involving almost all areas of the business - IT, finance, operations, sales. I had opportunities to work with other offices especially the UK and US offices. I think Garmin understands the need to provide different challenges to employees to help them grow and contribute.
Within the DACH region especially, I always felt my voice was heard and I received the support needed to accomplish my tasks and to achieve objectives.
Karriere / Weiterbildung
I received coaching and training to help me advance in my career. Garmin also paid for courses to help me advance my knowledge (provided the courses were also beneficial to the company, of course).
Gehalt / Sozialleistungen
I was always paid fairly and within market at Garmin. I was also fairly rewarded when my merit and work performance warranted it. I was always paid on time.
Proper working conditions are certainly provided and if there is additional need or desire then employees are encouraged to voice their concerns.
Umwelt- / Sozialbewusstsein
I think top management is very concerned with the environment and social matters and this attitude flows down to the rest of the organization as well. Refugees were hired which helps integrate them into the job market and into German society.
I sometimes worked long hours to accomplish necessary tasks but if I had a personal conflict that needed attention then Garmin always supported that need and allowed flexibility.
Garmin is a global brand who's values center on honesty, integrity, and respect. The Deutschland office truly embraces these values and I could see them across the entire organization. The Beat Yesterday campaign is also wholeheartedly supported within the company. This means that employees are encouraged to improve, learn, grow, and overall try to be better than they were yesterday.
I had unbelievable opportunities are Garmin. I think this was in part due to Garmin recognizing the contributions the workers make and also having the vision for where best to utilize talent.
I had a great experience with Garmin...but that doesn't mean that all departments / employees have had the same experience. Garmin should continue to welcome feedback from current and ex-workers in order to continue improve.
