As most of the people working at HelloFresh are passionate about food, receive the box themselves and are happy with it, I'd describe the image (fresh food, multicultural company etc) as corresponding with reality.
As an intern, my working hours are definitely respected. Also, my working hours are quite flexible which means I can arrive between 8 and 9 am, do my lunch break whenever I want and change the working hours a bit when I need to attend special appointments.
There's waste separation and we take care of all our glass bottles with deposit.
Short distances between departments, easy to talk to people from different teams. Motivation and commitment pays off.
Especially in my team, there is a lot of support and open communication and I have the impression that it also work that way in other teams. Events like the Geek Friday (presentation about a specific topic with beers and snacks) make it possible to bond with people from other teams and to actually make friends.
As I've been in one team for the last three months, I can only talk about my team lead who is just amazing. She is very straight forward and honest while being understanding and kind.
IT support will give whatever hardware you need (laptops, screens, smartphones ..) whereas Office Mngt cares for comfortable lightning, well equipped kitchens, pleasant social spaces, comfortable chairs ...
Company is growing quickly so some of the processes still need to be developed/ changed in order for communication to be effective. The flow of information is insufficient from time to time which means you might have to organize sth on short notice and come up with a solution quickly. On the one hand, that can be stressful but it makes work more exciting on the other hand.
The internship is compensated well for Berlin standards
HR is giving it's best to get women for the Tech department and care for a diverse workforce in general.
In my case, as an Intern, I'm trying to get insights in other areas now. However, it is definitely possible.

Es ist kein 9 to 5 Job, aber Urlaub ist nach Absprache und Planung gut konsumierbar
Wer gut ist, steigt auf
Kollegen waren meine besten Freunde in Berlin - also super Zusammenhalt
Hohe Anforderungen, aber gleichzeitig auch Hilfe bei Aufgaben/Problemen
Computer sind leider keine mcbooks, ansonsten passt alles
Jeder redet mit jedem - auch abteilungsübergreifend, Gruppengespräche innerhalb der Abteilungen
Es ist ein Startup, trotzdem sehr ordentliche Bezahlung
Es gibt natürlich eine gewisse Hierarchie, aber ansonsten hat jeder je nach Bereitschaft alle Möglichkeiten
Herausfordernd, ich durfte sehr selbstständig arbeiten und mir wurden schnell einige Kompetenzen übertragen - genau das, was man sich von Startups wünscht
