Formerly a Great Employer, Now on a Downward Spiral
Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich
The best thing about the company is the colleagues, who are incredibly supportive and respectful, creating a great team atmosphere. This is enhanced by regular team events. Additionally, there are several valuable and practical benefits, such as the supplemental health insurance (Zusatzversicherung), the travel industry card, and the much-appreciated Döner vouchers.
Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich
There are a few areas with room for improvement. The compensation structure could be more competitive to better reflect the market, and there's an opportunity to create a clearer link between performance and recognition. The recent shift away from a flexible hybrid model was a disappointing change for many. Additionally, it would be great to see more benefits added, especially travel-related ones, to make the overall package more attractive.
Verbesserungsvorschläge
Management should make a genuine effort to listen to and integrate the German office in all key decisions. Improving the communication flow from the UK is also critical to making daily operations more efficient and clear for everyone. Finally, the company needs to understand that in today's world, true flexibility and a considerate approach to employee work-life balance are essential for attracting and retaining talent, not just a 'nice-to-have'.
Arbeitsatmosphäre
The work atmosphere has unfortunately become less collaborative, and a general lack of recognition for individual contributions has begun to dampen the once-positive team spirit. This has led to a decline in morale where employees feel less trusted and empowered, a feeling that has been solidified by the recent enforcement of a 100% mandatory office presence.
Work-Life-Balance
Flexibility regarding working hours and annual leave remains a positive aspect. However, there is a noticeable and worrying shift in the company's attitude, with the recent enforcement of a 100% office presence being a major step backward from the trust we had before.
Karriere/Weiterbildung
There is a budget available for further training, but opportunities for a genuine promotion within your department are rare. Instead, career progression usually means taking on more responsibilities without a corresponding change in your role or salary.
Gehalt/Benefits
While it's known that salaries in tourism are generally lower, the pay here is not competitive, even when compared to other companies in the sector. On the positive side, the company does offer some very useful benefits, like contributions to a pension scheme (bAV) and supplemental health insurance. However, these valuable perks don't fully make up for the "less attractive" salary.
Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein
Given that the business model revolves around airport parking, you would hope to see some effort towards sustainability, but there are no initiatives at all. The lack of commitment is so profound that even basic recycling and trash separation are completely ignored in the office.
Kollegenzusammenhalt
The company's biggest asset is the cohesion within the German office, where the incredible support among colleagues creates a positive atmosphere that truly feels like a family.
Umgang mit älteren Kollegen
The experience of older colleagues is genuinely valued, and age is never an issue.
Vorgesetztenverhalten
With the German managers, you usually feel appreciated, supported, and respected. The problem is, it seems like they have nothing to say about the big decisions these days. From the UK side, it then feels like you're being totally ignored, and slowly forgotten.
Arbeitsbedingungen
While the company provides modern equipment like laptops and monitors, the physical work environment is a major challenge. The open-plan office is often noisy and finding an available desk can be difficult, which negatively impacts concentration and productivity. This is a significant concern, especially with the 100% mandatory office attendance starting in November.
Kommunikation
Internally, communication among colleagues in the German office is generally strong and supportive. However, this is overshadowed by a severe breakdown in communication with the UK office. Important decisions that profoundly affect our work, our partners, and our customers are frequently made without any input from the German team, leaving us to deal with the consequences.
Gleichberechtigung
For the most part, there is a culture of fairness. However, it does feel like this can be undermined at times by a subtle preference for certain individuals
Interessante Aufgaben
The quality of tasks can vary depending on the department. However, the general experience is that the work is very repetitive and manual, largely because we have to rely on old systems that are functional yet unintuitive at times. This technical limitation prevents the work from being as engaging or efficient as it could be.
