The worst employer experience in my ten-year career
My experience at HomeToGo was the worst of my professional career in over ten years. After roughly six months, I was told that the company would not continue my employment, despite the very positive feedback I had received from my teammates.
I had also told my manager that I was about to become a father. From my perspective, this received no meaningful consideration, and the way the situation was handled left me feeling disposable at a particularly important moment in my life.
The contrast between my teammates’ feedback and the decision to end my employment left me deeply disappointed. It gave me the impression that I had been hired only to fill a short-term need, rather than with a genuine commitment to long-term employment. I cannot know whether that was the intention from the beginning, but that is how the experience felt.
Based on my experience, I would not recommend HomeToGo as an employer.
