open-ness in communications, direct lines of communication, solution oriented mindset, excellent culture to handle fails. additional perk: free DB transportation.
there's nothing currently
stay as you are.
Team spirit is valued and I am genuinely happy to work here.
excellent.
excellent. Yearly budget towards self improvement is encouraged to use. Love it.
Payment is average to medium high, but might be an issue if you look for the best paid job in Frankfurt.
High. first on the market to introduce "accessibility" into their app.
There is valued culture around helping each other and jointly working towards goals.
average age is low but seniors are hired and respected.
excellent.
Management communication is open, friendly and clear. Team communication is open, and constructive.
pride day is a thing here.
interesting tasks are abundant. Hackathons help staying sharp. If you like IT, this is a place to thrive.
There is a lot of emphasis on team building
The working conditions are very good
The tasks and topics are very cool
Home office/hybrid works very well
The workload and high expectations of the quality of the output constantly pushes you to your personal limits.
Mandatory team day(s) that everyone has to attend
Document working hours
Proper job ticket for whole public transport
Get rid of annoying processes
Fair payment growth
Project-related attendance instead of useless mandatory team days
Less shiny-like LinkedIn posts
The work atmosphere tends to be good. However, much suffers from growing pains. A lot of employees from the early days have left in the meantime, and the staff has been replaced almost completely. For many, ioki is just a stepping stone to bigger career goals.
It's cool to see "your" product on the streets, it strengthens the image and you can identify very well with ioki.
To the outside world (LinkedIn...), they like to present themselves as a hip alternative, especially within the DB Group, but behind the facade there are very lengthy processes. At its core, it's a company like any other.
Some values are printed on colorful posters and thousands of postcards (see environmental awareness), but they are hardly lived.
In stressful times (always), you are expected to function and deliver. The workload is very high and there are few rest breaks. Overtime is de facto not recognized, but additional work is certainly appreciated.
Some teams and employees are extremely overworked
You have a certain training budget and days available per year. However, this is not really enough to stay state of the art. Time to learn things or to further develop yourself technically is almost impossible during daily business. Larger personal development have to be negotiated and tackled separately, but is possible.
The so called growth talks are over engineered and seem like a facade. Soon everyone will be a "senior" on LinkedIn
The salary is slightly below market.
In order to improve your salary, you have to negotiate almost aggressively in the development talks, which is not welcomed. And not everyone's business!
As a new employee, it is easier to achieve higher salaries.
There are practically no bonus payments, profit sharing or inflation compensation.
As a company that wants drive forward the change in the mobility behavior , the environmental and social awareness is not very good.
A candy bar where all the sweets are packed in small plastic packages?
No real job ticket? (Only for DB products)
Yes, you are bound to certain things of DB, but there is no real initiative to make things better
The team spirit is great. The majority of employees are the same age, which contributes to this. There is practically no departmental thinking
The few older colleagues there are seem young at heart themselves. Therefore, no problems at all.
However, it would do the internal structure a lot of good to have a few more experienced colleagues on board. But they might have unpopular opinions, ... see above.
Team leads are mostly very understanding and act in the best interest of the employee or team.
The objectives and expectations of the management are mostly unrealistic, employees are hardly included in "big" decisions.
It seems like a few "internal consultants" have immense influence on management and their decisions.
The working conditions are top.
The latest technical equipment, very well-equipped, clean office and toilets, free coffee, fruits and soft drinks!
General company communication is absolutely fine. Information about successes or the status of goal achievement is provided very quickly. Bad news is kept quiet, or you can hear it in the kitchen.
Equality is written relatively big and accepted internally.
Only if you think differently and make this public are you bashed around. Unpopular opinions, which may be correct, are not welcome.
The tasks are usually very interesting and varied. You also have the opportunity to try out new things and technologies.
Well received primary product. Build upon that!
Mangelnde Anerkennung, Bürokratie, Benefits, Gehalt. Too many things are individual bargaining chips.
Make the actual salaries transparent. Give your employees job tickets, regardless of whether they travel by subway, bus or train. Establish a workers council so that employees can keep an eye on the management board. Claim your seat at the table.
Highly depends on the fields of work. Especially non-engineers seem happy / enthusiastic about the working culture. I failed to grasp what that even means.
The product seems pretty great. Public image is limited by the way the product is sold as a white-labeling.
There are large undertakings that often rest on a few shoulders. However, this does not mean that a grinding culture can be observed overall. Employees with children, for example, are given a lot of consideration. Additional concessions are, unfortunately, always dependent on what Deutsche Bahn "allows" - several colleagues for example have been forced to resign because of gratuitously restrictive rules for working from abroad.
There is an individual budget for further training. The way to use it is, like unfortunately everything at IOKI, only via very German and strange DB processes.
One is guided by the mediocrity of an incomprehensible "benchmark", which actually fell in times of high inflation. People who are starting out earn the most. There is no collective bargaining agreement, no inflation compensation, no allowance for home office equipment, no job ticket unless you use rail products exclusively. You are referred to a DB portal for employee benefits, where you can generate coupons for discounted Adidas clothing, it always sounded like a joke to me.
Gigantic warm and cozy office space in a downtown Frankfurt glass palace that is generally used by the majority of employees no more than once a week. Ecologically, you can't recover from that.
Colleague cohesion depends on the colleagues, of course. But depending on the team, you can be very lucky.
The few older colleagues seem to me to be highly valued. Overall, however, it is a very young staff.
There are not very many "supervisors" in the strict sense. Among them there are people who have fallen into their role rather accidentally, authoritarians, self-promoters, but of course also people whom everyone would like to have as superiors. Unfortunately, I had no luck with that.
Modern office space, adequate work equipment, 80% remote are standard (more if you are not from the Rhine-Main area). Unfortunately, the tooling has moved into the area of the Microsoft Office suite.
Meeting culture. Asynchronous communication does not take place, especially not with "management" personnel. Product owners exist only on paper - their ownership extends only to the limit & merit of so-called "product managers" and are thus actually only forerunners of the latter. Addressing dissatisfaction and frustration is brushed off with the cult mantra "always assume positive intent."
Although the proportion of women in software development is not particularly high, as is customary in the industry, women also hold leadership roles, including in engineering.
Here, of course, I can only speak for myself. I had interesting tasks and creative freedom.
- Top Büro (ich komme auch freiwillig gerne)
- Gute MacBooks, Monitore im Büro
- Höhenverstellbare Tische und freie Platzwahl
- Großes Büro mit Relaxraum (zum Entspannen, Liegen, etc.)!
- Sehr faires Gehalt
Man bekommt per Default kein Equipment fürs Homeoffice - also keine Webcam, kein Mikrofon, keine Kopfhörer/Headset, keinen Monitor, Tastatur, Maus usw. nichts.
Stacks. In manchen Gebieten etwas ungewohnt.
A colleague had to leave because our agile lead did not like him. He was very experienced in his field but brought to ioki under false claims. He could not do his job because the project is sort of a mess and when this guy criticized that he had to leave. Management knew, that the agile lead is not capable of running a team but did nothing about it. The lead could just claim that he did not fit the position and nobody even bothered to investigate. I am planning to leave myself, actually the whole team is.
Schnelles Wachstum weiterhin so nachhaltig gestalten
Offen, 360 Grad
Gut, teils viel Reise
Sehr vielschichtig, Org.modell unterstützt Wechsel aktiv
So verdient kununu Geld.
