The German Cancer Re­search Center is the largest bio­medi­cal re­search insti­tu­tion in Germany. With more than 3,000 employees, we operate an exten­sive scien­tific program in the field of cancer research.

The Divisions of Artificial Intelligence in Oncology (headed by Prof. Dr. Moritz Gerstung) and Regulatory Genomics and Cancer Evolution (headed by Prof. Dr. Duncan Odom) are looking for their joint laboratory for a Technical Assistant.

Job description:

As a successful applicant, you will work together in an international team on multiple joint research projects of the two divisions. Experimental techniques used will include:

  • Working with human and mouse samples
  • Preparation of tissue sections for histological analysis (including IHC, immunofluorescence, or 10x Xenium spatial transcriptomics)
  • Various molecular biology methods (for example DNA/RNA isolation, library preparation, and sequencing on Illumina or Nanopore machines)

In addition, you will support the general laboratory organization.

Requirements:

  • Education as a technical assistant (MTA, BTA, CTA) or biological laboratory assistant
  • Foundation of molecular biology skills is advantageous
  • Willing to work with animals (FELASA function A, former FELASA B is recommended)
  • Fluency in German and English, with good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability and enthusiasm to independently learn and perform experiments / protocols
  • Ability to accurately record own experimental work and write standard operating procedures
  • Good organizational skills
  • Experimental work experience in a research laboratory is recommended
