Awkward and demotivating. Not worth all the toxicity.
Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich
Company policy allows one to be fully remote, fully in the office or anything in-between, which given the culture and nature of work can be a blessing. Generally speaking, you are surrounded by nice people, not necessarily alpha types but ok if you treat this place for what it is, a job, not a career.
Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich
Despite being almost 20 years old (mind you Google is 24) the company still calls itself a 'start up' with all the problems attached to it.
Vision and strategy - There is none, one year its all about m&a in verticals where Klarna operates, another its about building a super app and integrating all those acquisitions, yet another its about pushing dubious marketing products to merchants. It desperately lacks a cohesive goal of what it is that Klarna aims to be, which would then enable a new team of skilled managers to formulate actions and cascade those downwards to their respective teams, as currently its very much 'everyone does what everyone wants', which given a lack of bonuses or an attractive career path for most simply means 'not very much'.
Management - Friends of friends from previous jobs. All the skilled management left years ago and left B team behind, which also either left or was let go in may 2022 resulting in C team being elevated. Combine that with rampant ego plays, narcissism and a total lack of accountability for the mid and upper mid management and you end up with a perfect storm.
Arbeitsatmosphäre
Filled with toxicity
Kommunikation
100s of slack channels and communication avenues
Umgang mit älteren Kollegen
There are hardly any colleagues above 40 years
Karriere/Weiterbildung
Very difficult to achieve anything when nothing is quantifiable and there are no kpis or goals to reach. Any growth is mostly driven by nepotism and the loudest voice in the room (accountable leads presenting their direct's achievements as their own). Even if its achievable, the salary increases are laughable (and mostly consisting of 4 year vesting RSUs) + no inflationary adjustments.
