Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich

The hospital management is supportive when resources or training is needed. When transferring to a specialty area a lot of training is provided to ensure you are comfortable working in that area. However, if you receive this training you will need to sign a contract for a couple years in that department.They try their best to allow you to maintain a work life balance. Every effort is made so that you can take vacation and avoid having to work outside of your scheduled hours.The company cares about your health with wellness challenges, creation health education, and a wellness incentive at the end of the year.

Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich

I disapprove of the culture of the frontline nursing staff and the fact that management does not seem to do anything to change that. I feel that nurses are disposable to the hospital. There is a very high turnover on all the units I have seen and management does not appear to be doing anything to fix this problem. The high turnover means that the staff members are not experienced in their area of work, and then they have nurses with very little experience training new hires and in the role of assistant nurse manager supervising the unit. This is dangerous and will cause gaps in knowledge of the staff and lead to poor patient outcomes. I believe the management team should be looking at why this turnover is happening and finding ways to encourage experienced staff members to stay on the unit so they can be in positions of leadership and be a learning resource for the new nurses. Some ideas to achieve this might be to offer a more competitive rate, better staffing ratios and retention bonuses every couple of years rather then sign on bonuses.

I would make every effort to promote teamwork between different units and promote staff retention.In my role I work with every department and I notice that most of the departments think negatively about the other departments and are quick to place blame and point fingers rather then working as a team to help take care of our patients. I also think that promoting staff retention will have a positive impact on unit performance and patient care as it will allow more experienced staff members to be a resource for new nurses.

Mediocre culture. Definitly not the best place I have ever worked. There is a very high turn over with the front line staff (nurses, techs etc) so not many experienced people on the unit. The staff lack a sense of teamwork. However, leadership is generally very supportive and the company cares about your health and well being so that makes up for it a bit.

Frequent one on one evaluations are given by leadership as well as monthly staff meetings to discuss challenges and new processess as a department.

While management does say that they want this, they do little to support it. No team building activities and no penalty for not being a team player.

Yes, my vacation time is usually always granted and I generally get to leave on time.

In the department that I work in, employees are given complete trust to work independantly. We are not micromanaged and we are expected to be able to get our work done on our own. However, if we have questions, management is available for support.

Arbeitsbedingungen

The temperature is far to cold, staff and pateints both have complained about it with no result. The work stations for nurses are not designed ergonomically. Four nurses are expected to work in a station designed for two people. The bathrooms and break rooms are always dirty as people do not clean up after themselves.

Most of the campuses I have been to do not have recycling boxes readily available and the staff are not educated about what can be recycled. Our supplies come in cardboard boxes that are just thrown in the garbage instead of being recylced.

Other hospitals in the area pay more and nurses here are not paid more for working in a specialty area and having extra skills/training/knowledge.

Herausforderung

Very routine, each day is repeating the same tasks. It was challenging at first to learn the tasks but after a couple months it became pretty repetative.
