- Dealing with the new normal and 2020 in general
- High flexibility in way of working and working hours
- I was able to work with talented colleagues and wasnt stopped in presenting ideas and improvements

Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich

- no established culture
- no equality
- no personal development guided by the lead/company

Verbesserungsvorschläge

I think there can be done a lot to improve communication and not working in silos in Marketing department. Especially for colleagues who joined in 2020 it has been hard to get a full picture.
Furthermore, there are a lot of chances to make people stay and not to make it only a career step.

Arbeitsatmosphäre

Due to working remotely since March 2020, I did not feel any athmosphere anymore. Working at mytaxi and FREE NOW always has been a week full of abrupt meetings and very high level analysis. Its a fast moving sector and a lot of changes happen within a quarter. I had the feeling that many colleagues were left behind if they couldnt keep pace - especially during lockdowns, merger and restructuring.

Kommunikation

I think there are enough and good formats to communicate already in the company, but as mainly ever quarter the strategy has changed it felt like the communication wasnt that well. I often felt that there was not enough time for something to be lived before it was revealed. Furthermore, I was in a team situation with a missing lead and therefore it might has been hard to get all information.

Kollegenzusammenhalt

I was able to trust my colleagues and also worked with highly talented people on different projects. Nevertheless, I think too many colleagues were left behind.

Work-Life-Balance

Before 2020 FREE NOW already offered a very flexible way how to work and also working remotely has been possible without any trust issues. Furthermore, there was never a situation in which a colleague with a personal situation needed to justify him/herself.
There were also good corporate benefits like Urban Sports Club or free yoga classes in the morning.
Of course, working remotely for a year was challenging to keep the work-life-balance, but FREE NOW did a good job(compared to other companies I have heard of) and tries now to implement other opportunities ( as working remotely will still be the default for 2021).

Vorgesetztenverhalten

As I had changing or no leads back at FREE NOW I cannot really answer it properly. A missing guidance and someone who cares about me was one of the reasons for me to leave though.

Interessante Aufgaben

There is always something to improve, change or test. I never pitched an idea that wasnt tested or discussed fairly. Yes, interesting tasks dont necessarily come by themselves.

Gleichberechtigung

There have been a lot of initiatives started by management and HR, but none of them was implemented properly.
In 2020 a salary grading system was announced and implemented to make sure that a e.g. a junior doesnt get paid more than a manager position. I also have been told that the grading would increase my salary up to my correct salary range. Unfortunately I needed to find out that I was still not paid fairly according to the grading system and I havent been the only one treated like this. I appreciated the idea, but as it was not implemented correctly it was felt even worse than before (as before I was negotiating my salary).
The industry is still male in the majority, but I think FREE NOW would be able to invest more in training their own diverse leaders to become a bit more equal long-term.

Umgang mit älteren Kollegen

Average colleague is under 35, but never experienced any inappropriate behaviour.

Arbeitsbedingungen

Working 100% remotely is a big challenge for all companies. FREE NOW did a good job in providing all equipment to take home if needed .
As the Marketing Department was working on a construction side at the new office for half a year (before lockdown), I cant give more than 3 stars:/

Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein

There were some good initiatives before lockdown regarding social commitment. There is also now a pledge to become emission free, but still: its a mobility app. E-Scooters are not a good idea for the environment(the way they are used for commercial purposes).

Gehalt/Sozialleistungen

Sorry, but the explained disaster with the grading system doesn't allow any more stars.

Karriere/Weiterbildung

In my position there has never been a written role definition or career path. Some other colleagues and I asked for it for almost a year, but there was no development plan nor career model established before I left. I also never had the chance to do an external training. The internal trainings are nice to have, but I dont think that a soft skill can be improved within 90 minutes. Knowledge sharing has not been a component in my job, but if you ask colleagues proactively (and personal) they always have been happy to share. In my opnion there could be done more.

Still, there were many internal promotions.

In regards to the lack of atmosphere and culture during remote working, you can be assured that our employer branding team is working hard to strengthen our organisational culture. This is one of the recurring challenges in a remote working environment. An example of this can be seen with our communities. Our communities, also known as Employee Resource Groups, are groups of employees with shared interests who come together to support each other and learn from one another. The aim is not only to push diversity and inclusion initiatives but also to unify our employees. We are aware that males make up the majority of our management teams. However, we are investing in educating our leaders on their unconscious biases so that they can make better more inclusive decisions in the future. This process is not one that will happen overnight.

In regards to the constant change in communication, the situation at the moment is quite volatile. At FREE NOW, we operate in a fast-paced environment where things are constantly evolving and our employees are regularly changing and learning to be resilient and adaptive to change in this environment. Regarding your missing team lead, if you have a referral, please let us know because we are working hard to close that gap.

With regards to salary, we strive to offer competitive compensation and benefit packages for each of our employees that are in line with market trends. In addition, we place a strong emphasis on developing and nurturing all employees throughout their tenure at FREE NOW.
