Ex-Angestellte/r oder Arbeiter/inHat bis 2026 im Bereich IT bei LOVOO GmbH in Dresden gearbeitet.

Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich

- international, diverse, English-speaking team
- work-life balance is good
- warm, open, nice people (even made some friends here)
- ok salary for Dresden
- transport (30 euros / month), education (full) and sports (Urban Sports Club - 15 euro self pay) reimbursements
- free breakfasts in office

Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich

- Got laid off (operational costs reduction reason).
- Android project is very low quality. Did my best to try to fix it (besides my main business tasks), encouraged the team to tackle it as well. Zero appreciation from upper management in this regard, also no time allocated on tech debt. Seems like all they care about is revenue.
- No real salary growth. Once in 2 years got 2 percent increase, which after taxes is +50 euros a month.
- No bonuses get ever paid due to high yearly revenue expectations.
- Almost impossible career growth. One of my colleagues ended up in long depression medical leave due to managements repeated ignorance of her achievements and targets accomplished. Junior developers waiting 2–4 years to get a middle position title (no matter the real knowledge, responsibility, pro-activity and performance).
- unpaid overtimes (a pizza in the best case)

Extra info on lay-offs:
First wave removed ~20% of engineers, 0% management (of course). It happened right the next week after a 6 months period of really heavy load and intensive work (often with unpaid over-times).
The new CEO - has shown us: once the business goals, what require big collective efforts, are accomplished; there's no more need for people.
The mood of the team got down a lot.
Second wave removed again ~20% of engineers (including me), and cut the office rent in the Pennsylvania, USA (you see, first the people, then the real estate) :)

Verbesserungsvorschläge

To management: Start appreciating your staff, because you already ended up in a situation where all the talented people left (or are looking forward to).

From the outside it might look like Lovoo follows their mission, however I'm afraid it's only about the revenue

Vorgesetztenverhalten

2 waves of lay-offs - I consider it a big leadership fail.

Arbeitsbedingungen

Work equipment could've been better. I mean, cheapest TN monitors for developers, really?

Kommunikation

Communication between projects is often misleading.

Gehalt/Benefits

ok salary, small nice perks

Arbeitgeber-Kommentar

Saskia Gebhard

Dear former colleague,

Thank you for openly sharing your experiences and impressions from your time with us.

We are aware that the organisational changes and personnel decisions of last year have been challenging for many. Such decisions are never easy and always affect people, not just structures or figures. We understand how painful it can be when such measures follow a period of high workload and strong personal commitment, and we acknowledge the impact this may have had. At the same time, we carry responsibility for ensuring the company’s economic stability and long-term viability.

Your words reflect a level of frustration and disappointment that appears to have built up over a longer period of time. We regret that we were not able to address these concerns earlier together or provide the level of support that would have felt helpful at the time.

You also raise points around compensation, bonuses, and career development. We would like to clarify that it is not our approach that junior developers must wait a fixed number of years before career progression becomes possible. Development and advancement are based on skills, impact, readiness, and the organisational need for the respective role, rather than on predefined timeframes. That said, we acknowledge that expectations and criteria have not always been sufficiently transparent, and this is an area we continue to refine.

On the topic of workload and overtime, we want to emphasise that we offer flexible working hours and trust teams and individuals to organise their working time responsibly. We recognise that workload can fluctuate at times and continue to address this through clearer prioritisation and ongoing dialogue with leaders.

With regard to the layoffs mentioned, it is important to clarify that these decisions affected multiple levels of the organisation, including management roles. They were not targeted at specific career stages, but were part of broader structural adjustments.

At the same time, we appreciate you highlighting positive aspects such as the international and diverse working environment, the team spirit, the work-life balance, and the openness of colleagues, as well as the benefits that supported day-to-day work.

Finally, thank you again for your openness. While written feedback has its limits, our offer for a personal and confidential conversation remains open, regardless of whether you are still part of the company or not.

We wish you all the best for your future and hope you will find an environment that offers appreciation, motivation, and opportunities for development.

Best wishes,
Your HR-Team
