The founder duo and the overall leadership team need to be reconsidered.
The work atmosphere in the sales department was unparalleled. Unfortunately, the performance and incredible successes of the sales department were always downplayed. The “successes” of other departments were consistently valued and celebrated, even though in other companies, they would have been considered significant losses.
I never felt like a part of the team in total.
What is outstanding is the opportunity to do home office and workation!
Unfortunately, the commercial founder deliberately ensures that working hours are strictly monitored, and messages being sent during weekends, etc.
No opportunity for professional growth.
There is no one to learn from, and no chance to attain a higher title.
The salary is good, but only if the targets are achievable. Bonus structures seem to be constantly adjusted, as are pricing models, which directly impact the ability to meet those targets. The founder doesn’t understand why the team “earns so much money” and expects everyone to prioritize the company over their own salary.
The air conditioning runs while the windows are open, a massive office space is available, but less than half of it is used—yet it is still heated and lit.
The team cohesion in the sales department is outstanding, but it is nonexistent with other departments.
Catastrophic leadership behavior, including micromanagement. Decision-making processes are neither transparent nor rational.
Goals are unattainable, and failure to achieve them is carried on the backs of employees, who pay for the leadership’s incompetence through their lost bonuses.
It is often said that communication is the most important thing. At PowerUs, however, it’s more about pretending to communicate.
The teams communicate extremely poorly with each other, relying on countless tools that often lead to miscommunication or go nowhere.
The worst communication, however, is with the founder responsible for the commercial department.
The work was highly repetitive, as the product is straightforward and has little to do with SaaS.
Simple product that is not really evolving and simple customers.
Home-Office First
man sollte keine 40h - Stunden-Woche erwarten...
Sehr schwammig.
Überstunden. Wenn du Führungskraft bist: klar, gehört dazu.
Bist du Mitarbeiter: nö, was ist das?
Kommen und gehen, wie es dir passt. Extra mile gehen?
Absolut
Kollegen halten weitestgehend zusammen, sonst würde alles auseinander brechen. Gruppenbildung ist groß geschrieben. Gehörst du nicht dazu, bist du raus.
Erinnert an die Schulzeit
Man merkt keinen Unterschied.
Du bekommst, was andere wollen. Schade
Vllt unter den Kollegen mit gleichem Geschlecht.
Standard im StartUp im Vertrieb. Keine Besonderheiten. Nichts neues
Feedback culture is well established and very useful for the individuals and for the company in general
I believe this company is going to be one of the most well known companies in Germany and in the world in the future
Higher than the average
Everybody is helpful for your onboarding process
Working 100% remotely
From the top managers to bottom, you can communicate with anyone without any hesitation
Salary & most of the colleagues
Culture, Product and Leadership Team.
Hire more woman. Change the leadership team. Get a marketing and a decent design team to change everything. Fix the toxic gym bro culture. And most importantly: Trust the people you hired.
It went downhill quite fast. In the beginning it was a nice atmosphere but it changed dramatically in the last months. People got fired with weird reasons or left as they saw everything unfolding.
The leadership team tried to "fix" everything with communication guidelines or performance checks but made everything worse.
Some teams at PowerUs are so male-dominated that the only talks you'll hear at the coffee machine will be around protein shakes and how to grow your biceps. Some company events feel like Sweet-16 parties, where there testosteron driven contests like the "PowerUs-Triathlon", which is basically 3 ways how to drink your beer in one go.
All in all it's not a great atmosphere and they definitely have to grow up there.
No one knows what PowerUs really is and if you're visiting their landing pages you don't quite know what they're doing and it looks more like a fishy scam company (even users have this feeling)
The product itself looks and feels like an outdated university project so that you're not really proud to say you're working (or have worked) for this company.
It's quite ok with home office but the chaos in some teams will drive you crazy.
There are no career plans or ladders, no clear expectations on roles so that you'll be a bit lost in your initial role. Promotions feel like they only happen, when a manager is personally liking someone.
The greater team at PowerUs is full of awesome people and everyone supports each other.
The leadership team at PowerUs (Founders, Chiefs and Head Ofs) are a total mess in every regard. You can really feel that PowerUs is the first and only leadership experience for all of them.
Some of them are unexperienced but ok to work with while there are also persons where it's impossible to communicate and work with, as the only thing they accept is their process that they have written down in their notion doc and everything is doesn't matter to them.
If you're not working like some of the "gurus" there, you'll mostly getting fired, despite being told the opposite a few days earlier.
You'll get the technical equipment you need but if it's more expensive it will be hard to pitch to the responsible person. To find the person who is responsible for anything tech related is a challenge itself.
The office is quite nice but is already getting too small for the company. There are only 2 phone booths and 2 conference rooms, so that it's really hard to have meetings when you're in the office.
The equipment in the office is quite ok (standard 24inch monitor and furniture from lendis) but all in all everything there is quite lackluster.
It's pretty bad. People are afraid to speak up since the leadership team introduced the communication guidelines and some were told to not challenge something any longer.
There are a lot of pointless meetings and some higher up people seem to be obsessed with Notion docs, so that some times you'll spent a lot of hours a week going through pointless notion docs and strange processes that the leadership team read on LinkedIn or Medium.
One of the few points that PowerUs is doing well is paying their staff and the option to have ESOP's
Only man and not a single woman in the leadership team. Toxic gym bro culture is also not really helping.
Everything, there is nothing bad. You have a lot of work life balance, caring management that is also really transparent and fast in their communications. Team Leads empower you to become the best version of yourself :)
There is nothing wrong about it. I still love working here
Keep on beeing like that, it can be hard to keep the spirit if the whole team grows, but I am pretty sure, that you will manage that :)
It is great, I do work remote from home, but there is an awesome office which I love to visit for a weeks every few weeks
Completely respected, you can schedule your whole day very much in advance already, also possible to have appointments at the doctor within the working time without any problems
Salary always comes very early , some times one week before it has to arrive. Also PowerUs is paying way more than average! Super fair Salary!
We all support each other and empower ourselves at any time. Superior
Is always good, transparent and respectful. Always there to answer questions and motivating you a lot.
Could not be better, completely transparent and fast
It is sad that we have that 3 negative reviews, that are not fair and not correct. you are not being discriminated if you're "not white" or not male and it even does not matter if you are german or not. Some of the colleagues that are here the longest are not german, nor living in germany. Sad to read this :(
Tasks are very interesting, there is also a lot of space to bring in your own ideas and you can always test stuff. So you don't have to follow the process a 100% :)
It's a good balance between being ambitious, energetic and fun but also reasonable, serious and sustainable.
Highly valued by customers & users
In most roles you're working normal hours, you have 30 days of vacation & the possibility to work fully remote
Very competitive pay & ESOP program
PowerUs is working on the biggest bottleneck for the switch to renewable energy: solving the shortage of skilled blue collar workers.
What is real highlight to me is always hearing about the users that find jobs via PowerUs at companies with significantly more salary, better benefits etc. or companies who are able to grow fast thanks to PowerUs.
It's amazing to work in such an empathetic team - everyone supports each other & there are no personal-hidden agendas. Although a lot of colleagues joined during the last 12 months, there are a lot of people who are with PowerUs for multiple years and there is a very low number of departures or terminations.
Leadership and Team Leads within the company are always open for feedback and are also proactively requesting it continuously. Everyone is genuinely interested in doing the best for the team & company.
There is a high amount of transparency within the company. Even with the fast growth during the last months, especially the leadership team is doing their best to make sure everyone is informed about everything that is going on and has a lot of context about the challenges and progress.
Room for improvement here in terms of overall share of women/man in the company, however there is no difference at all in how people are treated professionally and personal in the team.
I am working fully remote and I love it - still there is an awesome office
Happy that more and more people know and appreciate PowerUs
I was able to reduce my working time - in the beginning there were times where it was really a lot - a young-start up-problem as you might know - gladly I found the perfect solution for my efficiency in my position and also living my passion outside of work
Completely satisfied
We discuss, celebrate, laugh, perform and help each other out - in tough situations everyone is willing to (short time) sacrifice to find solutions that benefit the team
Inclusive!!! Age is not too important when you have a low hierarchy in general
Im really happy with my team lead - we trust each other and I can always share when I’m insecure about something or have a topic that leads to a reduced ability to perform and then we find a sustainable solution together
Unpleasant topics are always handled open and respectfully - I think the high standard of transparency here is really rare in companys and I personally think this is sometimes underappreciated
It’s easy to celebrate together - thankfully both areas are covered professionally
Small room for improvement - we would benefit from having more diversity (BIPoC) and also more women - but the reasons why this is not already the case is also really understandable - we receive way more applications from white young men - but recruiting is trying they’re best already
I love my job and I don’t want to change anything about it - but to be 100% honest here it is a 4 out of 5
Flexible working hours, opportunity to work mostly remotely
Feedback and transparency at all times
Everybody is hyped! PowerUs has a great impact on the lives of workers and therefore being hyped is more than justified.
Family has high priority, normal full-time working times, flexible hours, more holidays than in other companies, easy to request vacation
Getting constant feedback on how to improve, knowing what to focus on and what can be improved, so all in all great opportunity to grow in business and personal areas
Starting salary is above average, salary always transferred reliably
Most people arrive with public transport, pro remote-work (up to 100%), mobility budget for public transport, business goals contribute to support solar energy
Teams are growing and working together closely
Conflicts are always taken seriously, solved in a constructive, fair and open way shared with everybody
Very cool office space, sometimes quite high noise level due to electrical facilities and meetings, there are only a few meeting rooms
Clear communication and frequent updates every week
So verdient kununu Geld.
