Challenging work in a vibrant atmosphere
Arbeitsatmosphäre
The majority of the staff work alongside each other in a large room. This creates a vibrant atmosphere in which you feel at the heart of all action, and ensures you are constantly aware of all major activity going on in the office.
Kommunikation
Due to your close proximity to everyone in the office it is not hard to communicate by simply approaching the person and addressing them face to face - the most efficient way of communication. However, as everyone is very busy information may not be relayed immediately. You therefore learn to keep regular contact off your own accord. I also expereienced Quandoo´s once a month "Quandoo Bar" where the founder gave a speech explaining Quandoo´s recent activities which gave me a coherent overview of the rapid development of the company. Afterwards there were drinks and snacks, and the opportunity to chat with colleagues.
Kollegenzusammenhalt
All my colleagues were friendly and cheerful. From my first day onwards I was welcomed on their communal lunch breaks. They are also all very hardworking which sets a high standard.
Work-Life-Balance
As one might expect from a start-up, the company is rapidly developing constantly creating new tasks for the employees. While this means you are rarely left bored at Quandoo, free-time does suffer somewhat. My working day started at 9am and generally finished at 6pm (although these times fluctuate considerably for other employees depending on work load). During the working day I took 1 hour off for lunch break where I left the office to eat at one of the cheap restaurants that Kreuzberg offers.
Vorgesetztenverhalten
The managers and owners who I worked alongside were approachable and encouraging. They involved me in important tasks and conversations which gave me an insight into the core management of a start-up company.
Interessante Aufgaben
I was given a viariety of tasks from translation to recruiting. This allowed me to form an understanding of how a range of areas function. The tasks I was given were challenging and interesting. However, as I was not assigned to a single area my tasks often lacked consistency.
Gleichberechtigung
I didn´t notice any equality during my time at Quandoo.
Umgang mit älteren Kollegen
Most employees are very young.
Arbeitsbedingungen
Every employee is provided with a laptop with mouse etc, and desk space. This equipment is more than sufficient for carrying out daily tasks. The office also features a simple kitchen where you can make yourself hot drinks, and a vending machine. There are two private meeting rooms but otherwise it is hard to find a quiet space for phone calls.
Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein
I didn´t notice great efforts to protect the environment. Although there is a "Go Green" poster above the printer.

Based on my experience, Quandoo is a prime example of an exciting start-up company with great potential of success and expansion. It is an invigorating experience to paritcipate in the company´s growth.
Karriere/Weiterbildung
Depending on how suitable you prove yourself in the company during your internship, there appeared to be plenty of opportunities to progress to a "Werk Student" and even a permanent position.
