- my peers
- the hybrid working model
- Workload too high
- reluctant to hire new people or fill vacant positions (which adds to the already high workload)
- Chaotic project and product management
- Unrealistic expectations and goals
- Many good people are quitting, which is not addressed
To me, the company has lost its edge and its structural integrity. We are hustling and trying to somehow muddle through but we are a long way from being a stable, successful company. In my opinion, the events of last year have damaged us beyond repair - I haven't seen any significant improvement since then.
- Start listening to your employees
- Take it as a big warning sign that so many (good and/or long-term) employees are quitting. You cannot build a solid company without competent employees
- Be careful when hiring new people, especially in leadership roles. It only takes one "bad seed" to make an entire team unhappy
The office is too big for the amount of people who actually show up. I rather work from home than in an empty office.
Not as good as the company would like - which should not come as a surprise given the events over the last 12 months
Hybrid work model
An attempt was made with the introduction of a growth planning tool. In reality, however, it is not really used and is not really helpful in advancing one's own career. Effectively, the unspoken rule is: get on well with management and they will advance your career.
OK
Could be better, could be worse.
On many days, the colleagues are the only ray of hope in this job.
Startup, so there are actually no older colleagues
Totally depends on how well you get along with your boss. I have witnessed some abhorrent behaviours from superiors towards individual employees. Other
- Workload too high given the number of employees. At the same time, management is reluctant to hire new full-time employees
- Unrealistic expectations and goals
- Chaotic project and product management
- Good people are leaving for good reasons
Very intransparent, i.e. there is no discussion of recent events and the reasons why so many good people are quitting at the moment.
As far as I can tell, men and women are given the same opportunities.
There is potential for interesting tasks but at the same time, there is no space for them. Stress, high workload, and chaotic management structures kill any genuine interest in the tasks.
The few ex-colleagues which made it fun to work that are still left. We head really great, smooth, fun teams until it got re-shuffled a couple of times to end up in the old setup without addressing the underlying issues. Making it easy for skilled people to say goodbye …
Don’t taking into account attitude for hiring. Relying on the same set of people for new hires and decisions.
Scaring away all people with skills, ambition and that don’t say “yes” to everything.
If “Leaders” blame (ex) employees that empowered the company to the state it’s now or saved whole business critical areas with their contributions.
Listen to the many Feedback channels. Collect peer review in
probation to avoid more people quitting because of the same people and issues.
Don’t find excuses for facts confirmed multiple times. Don’t listen to people with a lack of insights and/or interest.
You won’t be fired for having an opinion, it’s your job to challenge decisions in certain positions.
Mainly based on legacy / market capitalization via hardware partner. Far away from competitors in terms of delivery or innovation.
High stress due to lack of planning or a vision. Few teams or people need to compensate that usually. Don’t expect any Appreciation for long hours and working beyond your scope.
Career plans without any base or hardly anyone who is able or willing to teach or lead by example.
Promotions are not based on contributions or impact. Accidental promotions are left alone and demoted afterwards.
Not transparent or based on performance
Mainly marketing
No good collaboration, mainly interested in short term (personal) success.
Self-proclaimed elite circle loves praising each other without major contributions instead of empowering or enabling others.
No old colleagues
Root cause in most areas, trickling down and expanding due to hiring & feedback structure.
Completely closed to feedback, Nobody seems to be able to address the issues with some parts of leadership, a lot of conflict avoidance, bad decisions ignoring facts and trends. Avoiding “hard” decisions
Office & equipment is good, the messy and broken parts reflect the culture in some areas.
Only pseudo important news, mainly rocket emojis but no one is willing to answer simple questions or share important news or collaborate on things that matter
No issues here, but not everyone gets the same rights in some areas. Values are interpreted as needed
Depends on the team and short term ideas to rush out something instead of releasing few things properly
The amazing team, our values and culture, the product itself, the growth opportunities and the openness and flexibility.
Further improve transparent communication
I like the atmosphere at reev a lot, from the beginning everyone was very open and welcoming and I love being in the office. Also many team events supporting this atmosphere - these have been a little less recently, but I'm happy that more is happening here again now!
It's a start up so, even if work-life-balance is usually balanced and absolutely okay for me, work load can be a lot sometimes. But the work is always seen and working hours can be organised flexibly. There is also a platform for mental health with coaching and learning opportunities we can use that also help a lot in that area.
We have a career progression framework including 360° feedback, growth plans and learning opportunities; also internal workshops to learn together and from each other are organised on a regular basis.
Salary is fair in my opinion and also many benefits are offered.
One of the greatest things working at reev is the great team working with - not only within my own team but also cross-team.
I never had an issue working with my supervisor, we work eye-to-eye, I can give constructive feedback and I feel very appreciated in my role and my work.
The office is great, large and bright space, good equipment, nice meeting rooms.
Communication is usually open and transparent from Management to Team Leads to team - can still be improved and is being improved constantly; that's why 4 stars. But I see a lot already happening here and I can always give constructive feedback (also directly to Management), which I really appreciate a lot.
Fairness and respect are part of our values.
Tasks are very interesting and varied with a lot of creative freedom, projects can be taken on and driven forward and one is constantly learning.
We used to have surveys which gave the chance to leave internal feedback at least. Not much of the feedback has been addressed in the past however.
Not focusing on delivering value & performance .
We don’t promote high performance, but accepting slacking off and low performance.
We don’t have time or resources to spend or loose on countless activities that don’t bring improvements or are only started but never finished.
Why is there a negative trend since hiring new people?
We had values that seem to got lost.
Recent events not being handled. Why did we end up in a situation like this?
Our values are mainly slack emoji or stickers on the wall. People fit or following these values not taken care of.
From complete slacking to overworked, no awareness, in areas where it would be needed.
The number of short time sickness seems concerning. Mental health offers are nice, but better if it would not be needed to that extent.
There are more people stepping back from positions than promotions.
While it’s nice to support this, it’s a strong signal
There is a trend of great people leaving, having big impact on the rest of the team.
Lead or manager and similar title/role has some requirements across all departments
Office is good
Not as transparent as the values pretend.
Put more focus on creating a good product instead of trying to maximize sales. Hire experienced leaders in the tech departments to establish an actual engineering culture. Don't treat your developers like pawns in a chess game.
Passion (at least in the development team) has declined constantly over the whole time I have been here. In general, the past year has been dominated by struggles, adding uncertainty and stress. The current goals and orientation of the company don't seem clear to most people outside of management.
Pressure on development teams isn't very high, working times are quite flexible allowing people to work at a pace that works for them.
recently a career progression framework has been introduced, it remains to be seen how effective it is
Depends on the team, but overall pretty good
There is little engineering culture due to a lack of competent management. Lots of relatively inexperienced tech lead and managers. There are a few exceptionally skilled people in the dev team, however they can only push so much change, and a lot of the development team isn't very engaged, few people speak in all-hands meeting and it's always the same few that bring up suggestions and are trying to drive change
reev boasts transparency as one of its values, and in certain areas, this is lived quite well. However, it often requires team members to proactively ask for information (which they might not even know exists, see the problem?).
A lot of decisions regarding team structure (of which there have been a lot in recent months, particularly in the product/dev area) feel rushed, not thought to the end and not communicated properly.
salary seems below industry average, no transparent ranges for positions. Talk about salary is discouraged. From discussions with others it became clear to me that salary raises are also quite random, the better networked and more outspoken ones seem to get raises, while others have worked here for years with the salary never being touched.
The amount of vacation days is below industry standard, and there is a mandatory vacation between Christmas and New Year's, further reducing the amount of PTO available for free use. No options for unpaid vacations either.
Quite a few non-cash benefits such as JobRad, Deutschlandticket, gym membership as well as company pension plan available
Some of the dev teams have quite interesting topics that go beyond the usual CRUD operations, but this is largely team dependent
Important topics are not tackled or ignored
Is the company / goal / vision driven by engineering or not? Please be honest to employees. Hard times should move people together not further apart.
Took a huge hit recently, motivation declining
Hard to tell, not for software
High stress, suspicious high number of „sickness“
There is a budget
If you are lucky maybe, no bonus and little holidays
There is no good culture across the department. Other people are leaving already
Office good to work, just feels a bit dead or boring in some locations
Regular meetings, slack is very quite for a tech startup
Everyone welcome
If you are lucky to be moved around into the right team, which happens frequently without a right plan or people
The happiness of employees is directly linked to the satisfaction of customers. If employees are not happy, it is unlikely that customers will be happy either.
not much really.
===
Super C-Ebene
Vielseitige, interessante Arbeit
Kreatives Arbeiten - Ideen werden angehört und ausprobiert
Agiles Arbeiten
Sehr cooles, junges und motiviertes Team
Gestaltungsfreiraum
Hohes Vertrauen in die Mitarbeiter
Regelmäßige Teamevents und Zusammenkünfte
Top modernes Büro in bester Lage
So verdient kununu Geld.
