Don’t do it, just don’t
Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich
Coworkers and some managers are absolutely amazing. I mean truly, some of the best people you could meet at work. Every once in a while, they just hand out the test pieces we got, so you get some free stuff.
Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich
Gosh this place was a nightmare. Let’s start off with the reality of the situation. They moved their entire company into a satellite office they once had for just a few departments, and now they’ve packed everyone into that office space to cut costs. There was barely any room on the „required in-office days“ for people to actually be in the office. They’re clearly downsizing, and I heard from many people that the goal is to keep a small team and just do supplier management, most other departments will be out sourced. Obviously that’s hearsay, but I heard that „say“ from more than 10 people. Anyway, the other issues are quiet extensive. They offered 5k below my asking salary, and refused to negotiate, but said with all of the benefits I will get, I’ll come out even! That was a lie. They had a lunch benefit where you could get 75€ a month for your lunches. Well that is severely limited, has to be booked and controlled on a daily basis, and has a lot of rules to it, so in the end, it can be hard to even truly use that benefit. Then, since they hastily moved offices, they lost tons of workers, and those people did not write any handbooks, so they lost so much expertise and the current staff is scrambling to accomplish anything because everyone just works how they want, there is no standard. The worst part was my boss. Some teams have absolutely amazing managers…I did not. He once had to cancel and reschedule a meeting on a Friday morning, he informed us of this an hour before the meeting was going to start. He then rescheduled it for later on in the afternoon. Well, call me lazy, but I was putting in 10hr days on the regular, and thought maybe I’d finally take a bit of time off on this Friday. I also had to schedule an appointment at the pediatrician for an issue that popped up that morning. So, clearly I couldn’t make that meeting. I suggested some alternatives, but oh was that a mistake. My boss messaged me and accused me of never being available on Fridays, and questioned my dedication, and pretty much flipped out. I almost screenshotted my time sheet to show how I was available every Friday past 3pm, but he never apologized or corrected himself when I challenged him, so I knew the screenshot wouldn’t help. He then proceeded to get back at me for challenging him by vaguely assigning me work with no further info. He’d just message that he needed an analysis and when I’d send him a rough analysis, he’d flip out again and finally provide a little detail about what he wanted that analysis to show. He did this for as long as he felt was fair until he paid me back for stepping up to him. Ya know, the kind of people that don’t have a lot going on „upstairs“ so they use aggression to compensate. When I quit, I had the worst exit interview ever. It went like this „HR:why are you quitting? Me:My Boss. HR: sounds like maybe an onboarding problem. Me: Nope, just my boss. HR: ok, looks like we can improve our communication. Me: Nope, my boss was just terrible, here’s why…HR: No that’s ok, we’re going to improve our training tactics.“ Besides that, the ceo doesn’t even live in the same country, and comes to the office 3 times a year. They refuse to hire enough people to actually cover the work, so they keep pushing their current workforce into 10hr days, or even unpaid overtime to cover the tasks. People are leaving this place on a weekly basis, save yourself the trouble and don’t become one of them. You’ll want to leave the second you see how long they expect you to stay every single day. PS for the poor HR person who’s gonna try to write an answer to this…save yourself the trouble as well, there’s no making this look good.
