Unhealthy culture and working environment. Expats should think twice if they take the risk of not passing probation

Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich

- the office is located in center. None of the benefits is worth all the stress that is caused due to the unhealthy working environment

People are also forced to go back to the office and it is tracked. I use the word “force” because not all employees are convinced.

Verbesserungsvorschläge

- you should live what you preach . When new hires are asked to be “user centric” “ data driven” “ one team” then, it implies that the company itself is living these values. If this is not true, candidates should not be manipulated about false values. It would be good to update company values so that candidates know what they are dealing with.
- enhance communication by following simple rules of constructive communication guidelines such as being polite to each other
- commit to career paths and don’t change them based on moods
- don’t overstretch employees ambitions and rather appreciate it
- stick to a strategy and stick to priorities, don’t change them every months, it leads to irritations and frustration

Arbeitsatmosphäre

Immoscout24 had a great cultural environment embracing diversity, Knowledge and data. Nowadays, these skills are punished. Decision are not based on divers expert knowhow, facts (data) and research rather than on specific options and “gut feelings”. This is frustrating entire teams and increasing uncertainty. Due to the many abrupt changes without any notice in advance, uncertainty is a big issue in general. Teams and responsibilities change constantly since there was a management change. There is no more diversity in terms of opinions allowed.

Kommunikation

Communication is led with threats, public insults, public blames. Challenging opinions are not welcome. Challenging questions neither. Anything that is not in line with what specific persons believe in, is a reason that can be used against you at any time.

Work-Life-Balance

Work-life balance was great. Since the management change more and more roles are consolidated which means some people are doing the job of several colleagues which leads to a high burn out potential. Interestingly, salaries are not adjusted accordingly.

Vorgesetztenverhalten

The management is behaving not in alignment with the company values. When hiring new people, candidates have to prove they are 1)data driven 2) user and customer centric 3) one team etc. none of these values are true for the upper management. They believe in gut feelings, they believe in “what we have done in the last 15 years is true today as well”. Also, approved projects can be cancelled at any time without any warning. This leads to inefficient time and effort allocation of entire teams and verticals.

Interessante Aufgaben

Most of the time we are executing topics we are not convinced of. We are not creating topics based on current user needs but rather based on short-term business and customer needs, even if this means, that we are losing user value. When entire teams are not convinced of what they are working on, how interesting and motivating can these topics be ? This was not true before the management change. In general, the approach is a feature factory.

Gleichberechtigung

Women are treated much worse than man. There is also a pay gap. I used to ask my peers male and female about their salaries. It was interesting that all my male colleagues had higher salaries than my female ones.

Arbeitsbedingungen

Due to the high pressure, the frequent friction, the frequent stress, the frequent blaming, and the frequency of suddenly changing priorities, it is not possible to work in a safe place any longer. This was not the case before the management change.

Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein

How social can a company be, when they hire immigrants who don’t have permanent residence without supporting them to pass probation? People are coming from abroad, leaving their families at home, paying a lot of money to arrive to Germany and than are not supported? Companies should be way more sensitive towards fathers and mothers and give them the support to excel any challenge so that they can pass probation time. Also, the selection of new hires from abroad must be much more precise, so that Immoscout is 99,999% sure, that they will keep them!

Gehalt/Sozialleistungen

The amount of stress is not worth the money. Other companies pay much higher salaries in the tech Industry. Ex-immoscouts with whom I am still connected, have higher salaries even in lower ranks.

Karriere/Weiterbildung

Promotions are blocked or stretched endlessly, so that many of my colleagues are blocked in one positions for many years, even though they are ambitious and willing to achieve a good career. If a person is burning for a promotion and has several conversations about his or her career path, then it’s the company’s fault when these motivated people can’t reach the next step in time.
