I accepted an offer for Master Data Manager role at the beginning of November,2025 with an agreed start date in December. The recruitment process was led by the department head and team lead, who appeared to be responsible for the final hiring decision and onboarding preparation.
However, on the second day of employment—while I was already onsite for onboarding—I was informed that my contract was being terminated due to an internal business decision. This decision was not transparent, and I was told that the final termination decision had been made by someone outside the recruiting team. It was completely unexpected and not related to my performance.
This experience resulted in a significant loss of time for the selected candidate, who had already committed to the role, adjusted plans, and waited over a month between offer acceptance and the start date.
While I understand that business priorities can change, cancelling a role after onboarding has begun reflects serious gaps in planning, communication, and accountability. I hope the company improves internal alignment and transparency to prevent future candidates from going through a similar experience.
