Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich

Employees: I feel for you. Be aware that you have other opportunities and that you will find an employer who appreciates you and treats you with respect without fooling you.

Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich

The many leaders who are intolerant of criticism and push out those who speak up or stand up for others. The "anonymous" surveys aren't helpful when the leads go through their teams in JFs and 1:1s, asking why they got a bad rating and telling them they are wrong for writing this stuff so next time, they get a better rating.

Verbesserungsvorschläge

I already approached HR regarding problems I saw and discrimination I faced. Workshops were the solution and then I was let go. I won't put more effort into suggesting how to fix what was and is being destroyed the past months...

Arbeitsatmosphäre

The atmosphere changed a lot. The employees still try to create a good atmosphere but the remaining leads make it difficult. Everyone of them is thinking about themselves: how to get promoted, more money, etc., while preaching to the employees that they have to be thankful for not being let go. The leads who cared left or were let go... Now it's more survival until you can get something else. Sadly, a lot of people depend on the job for the visa.

Image

The company got a good reputation in the last years. That's thanks to the employees that put so much work and effort into the product. Many of those people left or have been let go. I am excited to see how that will change the image.

Work-Life-Balance

During and after Covid, this was a big plus. The new management slowly revokes those benefits, which is a pity. There are still exceptions made but mostly for leadership and then you have to stay quiet about it. Management gives reasons for revoking the benefits, claiming other companies who still grant certain benefits (e.g., working from abroad in Europe for more than 7 days a year) are risking consequences. The employees are left wondering how so many other (smaller and bigger) companies can grant naturally what Statista is revoking.

Karriere/Weiterbildung

In the past, education was a big benefit. However, this benefit was revoked. Management uses educational budget to finance AI solutions that should "support" (replace) employees in certain teams. Luckily, the AI solutions don't work properly so that isn't a risk. The budget for education is gone though.
The education is not important though since you will get promoted as long as you make the life of your lead comfortable and say yes. Don't think, just do as you're told and you're golden.

Gehalt/Benefits

The salary comes punctual. That's the good thing to say. It should be normal but I want to highlight it. Not once was the salary delayed. However, the salary is below average. Management tries to prove otherwise but if you have full-time employees who cannot afford rent for an apartment in Hamburg, you have to think about letting people work more from home so they can move to the outer parts.

Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein

There is no real garbage separation, which would be the easiest thing to do. This is already telling when it comes to envorinmental / social awareness.

Kollegenzusammenhalt

The employees try to stick together while management tries to play them against each other. It's hard to watch but as long as it benefits the numbers, it's accepted. Tension and conflicts are there and known. They are treated with workshops that pause the work but don't resolve anything. In the end, you work longer so you can catch up with the work that was paused due to the workshop.

Umgang mit älteren Kollegen

There are barely any. The ones who stay longer, are the ones comfortable in their routines and positions. They're stuck and say yes so they can stay.

Vorgesetztenverhalten

Well, people don't leave companies, they leave leaders. That's true here as well. The company gets rid of the leads who care (and coincidentally, mostly female) about employees and were loud about it. They keep the ones who either stay quiet /say yes because they are comfortable with their work and the ones who only think about the next opportunity for themselves. There's no trust, recognition or appreciation from the supervisor. Either they try to make your success their own or they don't care about you. And if you make someone aware, you're the next one to go. So, if you don't mind staying quiet and saying yes, this is the company for you.

Arbeitsbedingungen

The offices have ergonomic desks which is really nice. The hardware is questionable if you work with larger data / need to make more complicated operations. IT knows but they cannot change anything it seems.

Kommunikation

The communication is disastrous. The management tries to paint a picture and narrates a story in order to build a house of cards. It already fell apart but they still cling onto it which makes trust hard. Employees are not appreciated or treated like adults. They are rather exploited until they can be replaced.

Gleichberechtigung

People from all over the world work here. Of course not in (upper) management. There, we have the male Germans. Oh, and two female Germans but of course without kids. So, you see, diversity among employees is there as long as you don't look up the ladder. Even teams who specifically handle data and research for other regions of the world, e.g., Asia, have white leads. Don't expect to be promoted except you're white (and preferably male).

Interessante Aufgaben

Before and during Covid, you had very interesting tasks. Now, it's repetitive and no thinking "out of the box". Do as you're told. Update, and repeat. Please don't think for yourself.

Dear former colleague,

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed and critical feedback. We’re truly sorry to hear that your experience at Statista left you with so many frustrations and disappointments.

It’s clear from your review that you were once deeply engaged and had hoped for positive change. That makes it all the more regrettable to read how strongly your perception of leadership, communication, and culture has shifted over time. We take your remarks seriously – especially where you describe experiences of exclusion, discrimination, and a lack of appreciation.

Creating a transparent, respectful, and supportive work environment is a responsibility we don’t take lightly. While we understand that not all experiences are positive, we are committed to listening and learning from feedback like yours – particularly when it’s shared so openly.

We are grateful that you still recognized the efforts of many employees who work with dedication and integrity every day. That spirit remains at the heart of what we want Statista to be.

If you are open to it, we would appreciate the chance to continue this conversation confidentially with our People & Culture team.

We wish you only the best for the future – both personally and professionally.

Best regards
Statista Talent Acquisition Team
