Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich

There is definite potential, especially when it comes to the product and the people on the ground.
Taxdoo may work for those who thrive in political, less-professional environments, if you are good in this, apply for a job, you may make a good career.

Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich

For those used to professional environments with clear feedback and management structures, this company can be deeply disappointing. The lack of professionalism, especially in leadership, creates a toxic atmosphere. If you’re expecting to work in a place with clear guidelines and professional management, you might find yourself frustrated here. The company has a tendency to favor the "cushy" dynamics, where the right interpersonal relationships can determine your success more than actual performance.

If you’re someone who excels in navigating these toxic, unprofessional environments – mastering the art of forming alliances, outmaneuvering others, and playing the political game – then this company can offer a good career path. However, if you’re focused on genuine work ethic and professional growth, you’ll quickly see that the focus here is less on merit and more on who you know and how well you can play the "game."

Verbesserungsvorschläge

There are many potential improvements that could be made, such as reorganizing management systems, reviewing decisions from previous leadership, establishing clear rules, and fostering honest communication. However, based on my years of experience at this company, I’ve come to realize that the issues are deeply ingrained in the structure, and the point of no return has already passed. Therefore, I wouldn’t offer any specific improvement suggestions, as they are neither heard nor implemented. The best thing they can do is make fewer decisions, as every new decision seems worse than the last.

Arbeitsatmosphäre

The company is poorly organized, and there’s a constant sense of competition rather than collaboration between departments.

Kommunikation

Leadership often makes decisions on the fly, which results in frustration for many employees. Furthermore, the strategies keep changing, leaving people feeling like they’re constantly adapting to something that never sticks. There’s a lot of dissonance between what is said officially and what actually happens, which contributes to a general sense of mistrust within the company.
Additionally, there have been numerous layoffs in the past, often occurring out of the blue with little to no transparent communication. This has created an atmosphere of general insecurity, as employees never know what might happen next. Entire departments have been let go, and several management positions were terminated without any clear or understandable reasons. A lot is kept in the dark, and the communication style is that only good news is shared, while anything negative is simply ignored. While there is an opportunity to ask questions to management, more often than not, these questions are ignored, which feels rather disrespectful.

Kollegenzusammenhalt

Generally, the collaboration among colleagues is good, especially at lower levels, where people are quite supportive of each other. However, if someone believes a colleague doesn’t fit in or needs to go, others often fear being on the wrong side and may betray or leave that person hanging. True solidarity is rare. There are departments where this issue is even more pronounced, and the atmosphere can be much worse.

Work-Life-Balance

Overall good, completely remote, if you like

Vorgesetztenverhalten

While there are competent leaders in the company, many others, including some at the C-level, make unprofessional decisions without understanding the real issues at hand (or even "ego"-decisions). The overall management often comes across as self-congratulatory, touting the company as the best and brightest.

Interessante Aufgaben

Yes, there are many exciting tasks, particularly in departments that are more IT-oriented. However, in the customer-facing departments, the tasks tend to be more monotonous. It’s important to note, though, that whether you get exciting tasks often depends on how much you're favored by management. If you're a favorite, you'll likely get the more interesting assignments. On the other hand, if you have good ideas but aren’t in favor, you'll find yourself being held back by people who fear losing their key position. These individuals usually don't have original ideas themselves but enjoy playing the role of the "gatekeeper."

Gleichberechtigung

At the lower levels, the company is sometimes predominantly female, but recently, it feels like almost all key positions are held by men, with no women in sight. Despite this, the overall feeling within the company doesn’t seem to reflect inequality; the atmosphere suggests that everyone is treated equally.

Arbeitsbedingungen

Good hard- and software, office is too small with wifi issues :)), but cozy at all

Image

(External) Is very good tbh. So here are no issues at all.

Karriere/Weiterbildung

If you have the right supporter from higher up, things can go well for you, but without that support, you're left to fend for yourself, with little to no opportunity for growth. There’s a strong sense of favoritism that makes it hard for some people to thrive, and if you speak up, you might find yourself excluded from the team.

Arbeitgeber-Kommentar

Dear Ex-Taxi,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While it’s difficult to read that your experience at Taxdoo was in many ways frustrating and disappointing, we take your perspective seriously and are committed to reflecting on it and acting where necessary.

We’re glad to hear that you see potential in the product and among the people you worked with directly. It’s clear from your message, though, that we have work to do, especially in the areas of leadership and communication.

Focusing on our leaders and their development, we have rolled out targeted leadership training with a focus on clear communication, psychological safety, and decision-making transparency. We want our leaders to empower their direct reports and lead them through change, and not politicise.

We’re openly reviewing our org design with the respective leaders to reduce silos and internal competition between departments, and to clarify roles and responsibilities. Our goal is to foster collaboration and mutual trust, replacing hierarchy and gatekeeping with feedback and transparency. For this, we are also investing in more structured feedback cycles and in improving how we handle difficult conversations, including being more open about challenges. This includes revamping our internal communication to ensure consistency between what’s said and what’s done. Just recently, we applied a new internal communication strategy to communicate an acquisition for which we received very positive feedback from the whole team.

I am truly sorry to see that you don’t feel like you have received enough support on your professional journey. Career Development is an area where we have been investing a lot of resources over the last years. We have built transparent frameworks for internal mobility and promotion, based on competencies and impact, and not favouritism or politics. Further, we are providing crucial internal and external resources supported by the budget that enable everyone on their professional journey. We believe that, as much as the growth should be self-driven, we are here to team up to support that process.

Thank you for bringing up another important topic of changes in the org chart. As much as we deeply regret that past actions could have caused insecurity or felt disrespectful, we have put tremendous effort into ensuring that every Taxi that parts ways with us is being treated respectfully. And even though we are not able to bring up specific details, we know that every change can be challenging, and we will remain committed to ensuring a smooth transition for everyone affected.

Your note about collaboration among peers and the positive aspects of remote work is appreciated, and we hope to build on those strengths. At the same time, we recognise that trust must be earned through consistent behaviour, and your feedback is a reminder of that responsibility.

Thank you again for your honesty. Feedback like this (even when it’s hard to hear) plays a crucial role in helping us build the kind of company we want Taxdoo to be: bold, where everyone can be passionate about their task and excel while creating change.

Wishing you all the best in your future endeavours,

Alex
