Arbeitsatmosphäre

Lots of opportunities, activities, and resources. Very friendly most of the time. But it's also competitive, and instead of just saying "You've done great work, but not good enough," your superiors will build a case against you to justify letting you go. So once you're targeted for culling, things can get a bit nasty.

Kommunikation

Communication is the name of the game. Everybody is great at it.

Kollegenzusammenhalt

Lots of office activities and resources to get to know each other. Globally, people are unbelievably generous with their time if you reach out and ask to meet. Even very senior members.

Work-Life-Balance

One of my mentors once said, "It was a blessing in disguise that we lost our second nanny when COVID hit because it forced me to spend at least 1 hour a day with my baby."

Vorgesetztenverhalten

As long as you're seen to have potential, everyone is great! You'll have resources, access, mentorship. But if you fall behind for any reason, you'll lose support very quickly. My supervisor (with support of the office lead, office HR manager, and regional HR manager) tried to fire me 4 days before I went into labor with my first baby. I found the right people to talk to to get the decision reversed, but the people I mentioned still tried to convince me that I was mistaken/confused and never apologized for their original decision.

Interessante Aufgaben

Unbelievable access to incredible clients and projects!

Gleichberechtigung

It's hard to say just from my experience, but here's what I saw: There are outstanding examples of strong and influential female and minority leaders in BCG. Also, I saw a wave of lay-offs at my office that was 90% female and 50% non-heterosexual. It did feel like those people were targeted, not explicitly because of their gender/sexual orientation, but because they didn't "fit the mold" to be seen as the best of the best. Despite the friendly face, this is a COMPETITIVE firm. You have to fight for your spot and be confident in your value to the company.

Umgang mit älteren Kollegen

I've only had positive interactions here. Colleagues of older generations need to be somewhat 'with the times' to stay here. A side effect of that is that they're culturally savvy. They know what's appropriate.

Arbeitsbedingungen

You'll have access to any and every resource you need to be effective. The offices are really nice, and all costs are covered. Only downside is the pressure to perform at your best every moment and the long hours.

Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein

They are some of the best in the business in these areas and help other companies improve.

Gehalt/Sozialleistungen

Unbelievable compensation package. Best health insurance I've ever had (while working on US contract). I paid less than $300 for all of my prenatal care, labor and delivery, and newborn care up to 6 months.

Image

BCG has an incredible reputation. I still think very highly of it, overall.

Karriere/Weiterbildung

BCG on your resume absolutely opens doors for you afterward.
