Incredible company lost its way

Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich

Eventual willingness to listen to grievances of employees, dedication to getting people connected to life changing sports. The office. Redezeit. The team spirit.

Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich

The hypocrisy of telling corporates that we have the solution to workplace wellness, when we can't keep our own house clean (literally... office was filthy for months during first months of pandemic). The toxic leadership. The willingness to accept lunacy as brilliance instead of inexperience.

Verbesserungsvorschläge

Your workforce is crumbling because the infrastructure was never established to support hypergrowth, then the pandemic hit and the remaining employees have given everything to keep the company going. Every single employee deserves a promotion and a raise for their back-breaking work keeping an organisation not just afloat but thriving during a pandemic. New employees must be hired to fill the massive voids: 1. created by new OKRs 2. left by firings 3. left by mass leaving.

Arbeitsatmosphäre

Unfortunately everyone is being pushed too far given Kurzarbeit limitations, while not being offered promotions or raises to make up for the hard work the past year of madness.

Kommunikation

Some really great communicators in the team, and a real desire to improve- but leadership remains completely disconnected from the daily lives and problems of workers. Transparency is a serious issue from the top down.

Kollegenzusammenhalt

This used to be amazing, with team workouts and sports to bond over. Also employee resource groups. Unfortunately a few toxic leadership situations pit people against each other and lead to a very bad taste in everyone's mouths. Especially in the sales team- some key bad hires led to very negative experiences, bottlenecks, and lost opportunities.

Work-Life-Balance

Initiatives were created to improve this, but nobody wants to go beyond their Kurzarbeit hours because nobody is rewarded for it- while OKRs become more and more ambitious.

Vorgesetztenverhalten

Hierarchy was always worshipped, but C-level remains completely disconnected from daily lives of employers. "If people don't like xyz, they can get over it"- was a c-level response to questions regarding mass leavings during an all-hands meeting to the entire company. Leadership is very political. Sales teams routinely pitted against each other and actual lunatic leaders actively trying to make life harder for people.

Interessante Aufgaben

Of course- getting people to do more sports is the ultimate goal.

Gleichberechtigung

Employee-led LGBTQA+ resource groups, strong drive to empower women from within. But words of the leadership: "I don't see why it's needed at our company, it's a complete surprise, but I'm glad it's here." Any pride initiatives during pandemic were squashed- digital campaigns crushed because we "didn't have the capacity." Allegations of racism were not investigated fully. HR leadership has made openly racist comments regarding foreigners who don't speak German.

Umgang mit älteren Kollegen

Actually there's a fair mix- mostly very senior employees. Synergy is always good because the company is young at heart... maybe not anymore as it hasn't aged well.

Arbeitsbedingungen

The best office you've ever seen for sure, but cleaning was neglected during first months of the pandemic as the cleaning crew was fired to save money.

Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein

Company does zero here.

Gehalt/Sozialleistungen

Salary freezes since last year. Budgets increase but workforce crumbling. Not enough employees to spend the budget and people aren't being replaced. L-membership is touted as a benefit but it's in our contracts as a requirement to test- therefore the company benefits from us using it. Redezeit career counselling is great though.

Image

Well known in Berlin but increasingly thought of as predatory by partners. This is to be expected from an aggregator. I think the company really does care about its members and partners... but they're slow to react.

Karriere/Weiterbildung

Very few people promoted. Organisation keeps people where they are to squeeze resources out of them till the very end. Positions aren't being back-filled, so remaining employees picking up the slack without any extra pay, hours, or recognition. Promotions always delayed. "In 6 months we can revisit this... we'll touch base again in 3 months." Months go by and people clearly outgrow their positions but leadership is reluctant to make changes- or maybe doesn't have the capacity.
