Start valuing your employees...
Mostly fine, but achievements don't seem to be recognized or valued. Management often talks about how great the employees are doing, but there's little action to acknowledge or reward their contributions. There are also frequent change requests from management, which become exhausting over time.
We have flexible working hours with no core working hours, which is nice.
Private appointments are usually not a problem to attend, even without needing a vacation day.
The few days of vacation can generally be taken, provided the supervisor does not ignore the emails requesting them.
Flat hierarchies, no way getting promoted. There isn't any money for it anyway. There are no opportunities for professional development.
Colleagues are the best part about this company. Highly skilled and pleasant to work with.
It is kinda hit or miss if you get micromanaged or not.
Offices get very hot in the summer (30°C+) without any air conditioning. The work equipment is decent overall, although the office setup could be improved with better chairs and standing desks.
Employees are left in the dark and crucial information is not being communicated with them. Important dates are frequently changed, and employees are either informed only at the last minute or not at all.
Pay and benefits are abysmal. Salaries are several thousand euros below the market average. Employees receive fewer than 30 vacation days. The equity package is laughably small while they try to sell it to you as big deal. Agreements are not being honored.
Home office is contracted to be one day per week only while it's generally not too problematic to stay in home office on additional days if needed.
The newly proposed improvements to the compensation package are a good first step, but they do not go nearly far enough. Feedback that some of these changes are still inadequate, for example, increasing vacation entitlement while still offering fewer than 30 days or only marginally increasing the VSOP package, is not taken seriously. Instead, management once again emphasizes how generous these upcoming improvements are.
Overall, there seems to be an awareness that the company cannot attract experienced talent with its current compensation packages, as new senior hires appear to receive significantly better offers. At the same time, management appears reluctant to improve compensation for long term employees who helped build the company.
Employees usually have ownership of their entire area of responsibility. The workload is generally manageable, and the tasks are interesting.
