Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich

Great benefits
Average pay, but annual increases.
Good Technologie, despite many unnecessary custom solutions

Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich

The artificial increased competitiveness to a degree I got used to know from agencies, especially in higher positions.

The ownership and cherry picking culture and the missing action against it.
Some individuals have raised to a position where they only pick cherries and blame issues only to others. Since the management only trust them, they are not challenged at all.

The continuing ineffective rollout of processes due to conflicts and misunderstandings among departments.

Verbesserungsvorschläge

Keep you managers under control. The bottom up approach you promote is being gone for teams and only exists in the comitees.
Get back your strengths of direct communication with the staff. Implement counter measures for the increased pressure of performance management to avoid raising department issues.

Arbeitsatmosphäre

In general still great work atmosphere. What impacts it though is that changes are forced by leadership committee‘s and come out of the sudden.

Kommunikation

Communication is in general open and transparent. However often after the facts have been decided. The bottom up approach promoted in the career pages and materials changed a lot the last years and is not really the case.

Kollegenzusammenhalt

As long as there is no promotion opportunity collaboration works fine. Or you are in the inner circles of some of the core teams. Then neither your behavior or attitude counts as long as you are performant.

However on each change many individuals start playing the corporate game to get the next promotion.

Work-Life-Balance

There is two choices:
Work hard and play hard. If you achieve to become one of the core devs, you can decide and drive everything and you voice and happiness counts a lot despite any behavior you show. Then though you have to work really hard.

Or you are a nice person, do your job 9to5 but then you are seen as resource and should not disturb with a different opinion.

Vorgesetztenverhalten

There is many hierarchies. The team leads do their best job to keep the team protected from department politics among various parties. The senior leadership and vice presidents have one priority: Having their projects seen as successful and business driver. While this might be needed, they overstep boundaries with their department politics and are in a constant battle of decision control. That’s why decisions change often quickly when they come under pressure and processes have to implement without care and thought or involvement.

Interessante Aufgaben

Not anymore, freedom is reduced and replaced by competence centers where certain individuals drive decisions.

Gleichberechtigung

Even though there were promotions of woman into leadership the last years, this will not sugar code the many discriminating behaviors that you experience behind the doors.

In general the company is boomers first, with all their world pictures. Also some individuals share pretty questionable thoughts about politics.

Also be prepared that every trait of you can and will be weaponized against you to keep your visibility down to keep your influence under control. Being thoughtful can be seen as being slow, being energetic and inspiring can be phrased as being too emotional.

Be prepared for the typical corporate game of second guessing, false accusations.

That the leadership consists of very likeminded and white and german people in the age of 40-50 does not help to keep this corporate game in balance since you can prepare your narrative pretty well.

Umgang mit älteren Kollegen

Since all decision makers are at least 40+ if not 50+ and the most employees stick around the company for 5-10+ years older colleagues is not an issue.
It’s more an issue for younger and more modern people.

Arbeitsbedingungen

As long as you do your tasks, fine. You can also suggest changes.
You can have the latest equipment and work pretty comfortable.

Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein

Thoughts of optimizing the software or systems for energy consumption are encouraged but have been deprioritized in the capacity plannings.

Gehalt/Sozialleistungen

Yearly increase of the salary
Often some company bonus end of the year depending on the company success

There is great budget to attend meetups by yourself.
