I have moved from abroad to Berlin because I got the job at Zentiva. Got fired after one day.
Arbeitsatmosphäre
Lot of pressure. The head of accountancy expected more than I have represented on the interview. I honestly told on the interview that my German is between B1/B2. In response I received an information that “I now have three weeks to learn so I expect you to improve it” - I said ok, maybe it was a laugh, because nobody could improve their language so significantly in 3 weeks.
During my first day on the job I was told to prepare the invoices and get to know better the system they are working on (even though I have worked on it before - it’s ok, the systems differ a little between the companies). After 3 hours (including short break) I asked some questions about the invoices and a little help as I did not know some words in German. After that lady seemed to get really angry and after 30 min or so I was invited to a short meeting on which she and head of HR told me that they do not imagine working with me (after one day).
What I also heard during this meeting is that (Head of Accountancy) “also cannot speak too good in French but she could at least read”.
I walked out crying...
Kollegenzusammenhalt
I did not get to know the people too good but the people that sat with me and HoA seemed to be very stressed by her. Overall they seemed nice, even proposed me to spend lunches together.
Gehalt/Sozialleistungen
I was offered a nice salary, but from the time perspective I think it was a bit too small for what I was supposed to have in my scope.
