It's a startup - if you like it to think free, its your place. Yes of course they need to deliver, it's not a relaxing corporate job.
Work-Life-Balance
I would say reasonable. It's not that they burn you out. But yes, it's a startup. If you want to relax, go somewhere else. If you want to succeed and have ambition, go there.

They really want to succeed. If you succeed, they succed. They really try to protect and generate a good and ambitious team. Yes, if you don't provide results, thats bad - but ultimately in the interest of the team!
