The office and perks around the office were nice. Also the company event.
- Absolute inability to support employees when they are struggling.
- Awful managers in some departments, who openly push you towards burnout, and could not care less about your wellbeing.
You should fire managers who just feed into the toxicity, and not lay off people who actually get the work done.
Very poor image after layoffs
just gaslighting when trying to advance in your career
What older colleagues?
Foundation that is less about lies and hot steam
Greenwashing at its findest. Crypto cant and will never be green
Nice Office, thats about it
Teams are amazing, senior leadership partly meh
Since the layoffs, people have changed their mindset and image of the company.
Really depends on the department

Nachhaltiges Arbeiten / nachhaltige Unternehmenskultur
Schwierig, keine Strukturen, absolutes Chaos.
Own your impact ist in manchen Abteilungen einfach nicht umsetzbar. Bringt aber am Ende eh nichts!!
In den Teams ja, generell nein. Insgesamt ist es eine oberflächlich Scheinwelt.
Gibts nicht viele
No risk no fun. Übernehmen aber selten Verantwortung für ihre Teammitglieder. Kommt drauf an welches Team.
Schöne Büros, gratis Essen. Gute Ausstattung
Nice new office
Dishonesty, treating people like numbers, low salaries for the older employees, no way some people could get a promotion and some other get promoted every second week. One must wonder why…
Appreciate your employees, respect them and their time, not treat them like you own them, stop doing marketing tricks like unlimited holidays just before firing 500 people…
Except for my team it was a chaos
Everyone thinks it’s a cool company from the outside, but it was always rotten on the inside. They were always hiring wrong people for the leading positions.
None - they would call you on Sunday too if they wanted something from you.
The salaries were not really good, especially for those that started years ago. Very difficult to get a pay rise.
There were many nice people working there - culture was great. The only thing good about bitpanda actually.
We didn’t have older colleagues.
What communication?
Some were very interesting, but the approval process killed many good ideas. No real strategy whatsoever. Strategy was the favorite word at bitpanda, but they don’t know what does it mean.
A lot of insecurity and ever changing roadmaps.
Nudge you to do over-hours because "we are family".
No chance for educational leave, no encouragement for further education.
Pay less than market. No bonus.
Not a word.
Colleagues are great, some are super frustrated and toxic after mass lay offs.
No older colleagues. Little chance in hiring process.
Direct supervisors are nice but can't do much since upper level decides everything.
Office and free lunch is nice.
Lies and intransparency. Plans and Goals change a lot. Promises but nothing changes.
Repetitive work. Do what you are told to do (by upper level mgnt). Loads of micro management.
Das Gehalt kommt pünktlich. Gutes gratis Mittagessen.
Umgang mit den Mitarbeitern.
Walk the talk:
Keine klare Kommunikation, keine klaren Ziele, keine klare Vision. Viel Selbstdarstelllung und wenig Inhalt.
Schönes Büro, gratis Mittagessen, gute Ausstattung.
Katastrophal.
People here are either scared of being the next who is fired or are insanely overconfident in doing things they have no clue about (especially top and mid level management (VPs, C-Level). Management considers themselves as infallable. Thus causes of errors are not investigated, instead excuses are used ("the market") or other functional areas, departments than ones own are pointed out as being the cause of failure. Thus, the blame game begins if external factors don't add up to explain mistakes (there are far too many, countless, costly). I had never been in a company with so little culture for mistakes. The culture at bitpanda is best described as 'hero culture'. One person mutates himself / herself to be the self-proclaimed saviour of all problems until he falls or becomes irrelevant. Solutions are never found in the organisation (for which top management is responsible), they are found in individuals competency, time schedule, priorities, capabilities, endless reasons that never point to management decisions.
depends, if you get important work, none, if not, lots of time
no career paths
average
not a word
its okay but mostly because a common enemy (top management)
there are none
good in my case, bad in many others
nice office
if any it's nonsense from HR and top management
looks ok
interesting work is not distributed since management does not know how to distribute tasks and projects or has no clue about priorities
- Good office space with free snacks/food/drinks
- Excellent Home Office / Office work ratio
- Salary (if you have luck in negotiating it and getting liked by the right person(s))
- People (if you have luck landing a job in a good team)
With the recent layoffs - complete lack of leadership, and responsibility, no empathy, borderline sociopath behavior
- A lot of finger-pointing (they lie they're a learning company - they love finding someone to blame more than they let you learn on the job)
- Good PR, Marketing and difficult interviews just to be handed a mediocre job in a sub-par company
- Employ the people who can actually develop the company further and who are organized,
- Get rid of the people who parasitize off from other people's work and people who have been proven toxic to the work environment
- Do more to improve the knowledge of existing employees who deserve a career improvement in every way
- Practice what you preach (even with your own defined core values)
- Disorganization at it's core : company never managed to fix the issue of lack of communication (product managers, product owners, teams, slices etc.) leading to a lot of feature switching, often production rollbacks and hotfixes, people implementing what they want instead of what works integrated with the solution and what the customers want, nonsensical deadlines which ALWAYS lead to not compensated overtime and frustrations, and work even during weekends
- Mediocre middle - top tier management : your managers and leaders will in vast majority be the people who know the least about how the solution works and who posses the least technical knowledge to follow the ongoing discussions or provide constructive feedback/guidelines - more than often management looks at you for solutions even for their dilemmas and then reap the benefits like they came up with the solution/process/guide OR they provide without team consultation the nonsensical deadlines to top tier management - leading the teams to pick up the slack for their misinterpretation of the work.
Also, some of them can have a real toxic personality which can lead to a lot of undesired situations and negative work atmosphe
They spent a ton of money to build it up - but that's just it - PR, underneath it all - they're just another fintech company but this one with a seriously bad management
- Unpaid overtime and company culture promoting working till you're burned out
If it goes with the company's goals and you are friends with the right person in the company - yes, otherwise - only with a vast amount of luck.
There was a stream of nepotism in the workplace - new mid-top tier management bringing in their own people (more than oftentimes less competent than the already employed people) and then the existing employees were told to teach these newcomers everything they know to improve them for better positions than they have in the company.
Contrary to all the marketing tricks being said that the company respects the "radical candor", you have to be REALLY careful to who you tell what - wrong person interprets your words or passes comments them to someone else - it can be a career ending situation as seen oftentimes throughout the company (people getting fired and put on garden leave immediately or people who haven't progressed further in their career even though they earned it because they became unfriendly with the person in charge).
Also, there are no REAL metrics or baseline to which your performance is compared to, or the goals you are encouraged to set are measured in any meaningful way or if you achieve or overach
Benefits - so far shown - a marketing trick:
* work from anywhere is not "ANYWHERE" - the list of countries where you cannot work is bigger than the list of countries where you can work, and getting the permission to work in a disallowed country takes a lot of time and a lot of approvals from different levels - team lead, engineering manager, C level etc...
* unlimited vacation time : even before this benefit there were cases of disruption to take the days off on every corner : from the disapproval of the team you work with, to the disapproval of the company if there's a feature or a product push planned (more often unplanned but required ASAP).
Also, taking these days or taking more days than the regulatory allowance (sick days, personal leave, special care leaves etc) negatively affects your performance reviews even though you overachieved your yearly goals by the end of year.
* 20 weeks parental leave - I have only overheard there were people who were already prevented and discouraged to take it since it's not desired for you to be off for so long from work
* Virtual stocks - do not be fooled by this, at the end of the year the stock amount you get is < 0.5 EUR
Do not kid yourself - they don't care about any of it
The toxic ones are usually the ones you have to spend the most times with, however there are a few which were really good
Because of recent developments - they use you and then throw you away irregardless of your gender, years of service or age
With the most recent layoffs - completely lacking remorse and humanity - borderline sociopath behavior
Office space great - office atmosphere not so much
No transparency whatsoever
This was also to a point where they were hiring more women just to have a more clear "50-50" representation irrelevant of the skills other candidates were offering for some positions... which lead to a drop in quality...
Only because whatever was previously done was done by completely beginner developers... they're even outsourcing new developments to more capable coworkers in other companies!
So verdient kununu Geld.
