Development Engineer

As a Development Engineer in the System Development department, you will work within a cross-functional team to develop complex diagnostics systems, focusing on Nucleic Acid Purification, PCR, and Sequencing. You will perform hands-on experiments, conduct hardware and software testing, evaluate system performance, and drive reliability improvements.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute work packages, providing reporting and issue escalation.
• Act as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and support to team members.
• Generate technical documentation, procedures, and reports.
• Prepare and deliver project presentations to management.
• Design and execute experiments in biosafety levels S1 and S2 laboratories.
• Create and execute test cases based on product requirements, analyze results, and manage issue tracking.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems while maintaining software functionality.
• Coordinate efforts across hardware, software, consumables, and assay development teams.

Requirements

• Degree in a relevant life science discipline (e.g., biology, biotechnology, biomedical informatics, or engineering) or equivalent experience.
• Interest in resolving technical problems and interdisciplinary teamwork.
• Experience or willingness to work in highly regulated industries and S1/S2 biosafety labs.
• Familiarity with or strong interest in software and engineering applications.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and solution-oriented skills.
• Proven experience in laboratory diagnostics or service and support is an asset.
• Proficiency in English; German language skills are a strong asset.
