nothing !
- bring you down attitude: my managers constantly pointed out my weaknesses
- only negative feedback culture: my mangers constantly gave me negative feedbacks arguing that there is no need to give positive feedbacks
- Employees treatment: my manager had strong prejudice towards the country I come from and didn't hesitate to made bad comments about my country
- Lack of structure: managers are not in the position to evaluate team members as they lack expertise in certain fields
- Poor equipment allowance: the company doesn't provide a second screen for home office; the company didn't provide me with a company phone but I was asked from day 1 to share my personal number with my managers and make international calls
- Do exit talks! Especially with employees leaving the company shortly after having been employed
- Investigate why in certain teams there is high turn over and employees leave the team very often
- Heads of: if you witness employees being mistreated in meetings you are attending, please take actions!
- don't approach people on Linkedin and let them resign their current Job to join this company
Free Babbel Live, parties, Blinkist.
I have observed people getting fired out of process with no performance review, just an OK from the C-Suite. Management changes its mind very often about organizational design and required skills, according to my observations. Positions are published without what I consider enough thought about a time horizon beyond the present, even when immigration, families, leaving good jobs, etc. are involved. "There's always a probation period" was something I heard very often.
Hire executives who have experience and maturity not to change their minds every few months and fire the poor souls theiy lured into Babbel.
Distrustful and chaotic with an superficial layer of fake-enlightenment.
Way to good because of the diversity and inclusion PR.
"Everybody works on the weekend, but nobody talks about it," is a quote.
Individual contributors often complain about salaries being below standard.
No meat allowed at company events. Everybody uses the same toilette. Yet they still manage to be sexist, ethnocentric and unsensitive to non-Christians, in my experience.
The Berlin office and the New York office are in a constant power struggle. The New York office hired duplicate teams so they could deal less with the Berlin office, I was told. That is how bad the working together is.
The C-Suite has approved firings within the probation period without formal HR review processes. I was told that being bullied is a "gift" when I talked about behavior I considered unethical. Additionally, I had to ask 3 times for my written references before I got them.
The IT department is very good.
Chaotic. Lack of organizational alignment.
Management in the presence of HR gave me feedback about my family relationships. HR did not interrupt or stop, even when I signaled the feedback was inappropriate. Non-Christian holidays were not respected, despite being in a company calendar. Comments about too much of a certain ethnic group being in a department were made to me. Diversity and inclusion at Babbel is below the German / Western European standard, in my experience. It is very sad to see PR around inclusion and diversity when Babbel acts the way I have seen them act. Heart breaking. Hurtful to the individuals hurt by their carelessness, sexism and ethnocentrism, in my view.
Top! Flexible Arbeitszeiten. Urlaub auch tagesweise und kurzfristig möglich. Hybride Arbeitsweise: Mobiles Arbeiten in Kombination mit Büroarbeit.
Je nach Teams unterschiedlich. Oft aber sehr kollegial und unterstützend.
Das durchschnittliche Alter bei Babbel ist etwa 35. Daher nur 4 Sterne.
Flache Hierarchien angesagt.
Alter spielt keine Rolle.
Mega tolles Team!
- Open communication around strategy: if you want to be capitalistic - just say so and the company is to 100% revenue driven, while building up a caring brand will not be needed anymore, however do not try to keep up the facade that you want to be both
- Communicate more honestly and openly with employees (about dismissals and other changes within the company, problems, salaries, criteria for promotion etc)
- Listen to the employees, introduce bottom-up feedback
- Give people more options for development and empower them to learn instead of patronising and making them frustrated - believe in people
- Don't LIE + OVERPROMISE - dont say there wont be another round of dismissals if one year later there is one, it is just called "restructuring" and used to let people go
- C-Level is working completely ego driven creating a highly toxic and distructive atmosphere of constant power battles only wanting to push own agendas
- Some C-Level with highly narcissistic tendencies promoting "yes-sayers" and pushing those employees out of the company who raise their voices and give open feedback
Babbel used to be one of the best employees in Berlin but that was a long time ago. I would not recommend working there.
- Company values are empty - the company and management could care less about employees and their well-being
- No dedication to employee development
less about employees and their well-being
- No dedication to employee development
- Up to head of department levels mostly quite collaborative environment
- C-Level is working completely ego driven creating a highly toxic and distructive atmosphere of constant power battles only wanting to push own agendas
- Some C-Level with highly narcissistic tendencies promoting "yes-sayers" and pushing those employees out of the company who raise their voices and give open feedback
- Little confidence in employees' skills and patronising treatment, many people with high qualifications are put down because they might be too good and a thread to the manager?
- Open feedback not wanted
- Management lacks leadership skills and people skills, they communicate with empty corporate language when talking about problems which only creates more distrust
- huge gender pay gap of around 20-25% in marketing - not acceptable!

So verdient kununu Geld.
