One of the worst employers I've ever had!
Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich
Among the above mentioned points, I've experienced some extremely disrespectful behaviors of some DCS B2B customers (big and well known German OEMs), including disrespectful and insulting emails and phone calls. This was well known by everyone in the company, including the leadership board but I've never experienced any kind of support. Insteadt, I was being told that this behavior is "normal" and I need to endure this.
Arbeitsatmosphäre
When I joined DCS, I remember the atmosphere being enthusiastic. We were a small team, highly motivated and supporting each others – while also having fun together. The former leadership board was authentically sharing their vision and it felt great to be a part of that. I really enjoyed coming to work every day. However, this has changed after the merge with the other NOW verticals and the new leadership. It felt like the mission more and more got lost while the workload and pressure increased massively. As a result, the atmosphere became toxic and in my opinion switched to somewhat what I would call a „survival mode“.
Kommunikation
There were regular town hall meetings and weekly meetings, in which some of the important information have been shared. However, often it felt like some people were using these meetings as a stage to present themselves rather than sharing meaningful insights.
Also, open communication/sharing individual feedback is not desired by the leadership board as long as it differs from their point of view. If you dare to express a different opinion and communicate it openly, the leadership board and HR try to intimidate you.
Kollegenzusammenhalt
Depending on teams and colleagues. Most colleagues were super supportive and friendly, some also became close friends. A few were constantly busy with attacking other colleaguees (this includes people in management positions, who are still working there and even got promoted! Consequences for any of harrasment? Not at all!). In general, it made me really sad to see so many colleagues and friends suffering and also leaving the company because of the high workload and pressure and so much disappointment.
Work-Life-Balance
Toxic!!! The workload was high from the beginning onwards – however, the enthusiastic atmosphere and collaboration with the colleagues made me accept the daily overhours for a long time as I wanted to contribute to our common goals. However, with the change of leadership, I more and more realized they were manipulating people by refering to „the great team spirit“ or „being a family“ to make everyone doing overhours for free. The leadership board kept telling us that it just requires to finisch „one more project“ until things will get better. For months I was working around 11h per day (which is illegal btw) and no one cared about it.
HR did yearly surveys regarding the workload and happiness level of employees – the problems were super obvious but nothing has ever changed. A couple of colleagues were facing mental health problems due to the constantly high workload and extremely fast-paced environment – of course that has always been the fault of the employees, not beeing able to „handle stress properly“.
Vorgesetztenverhalten
Absolutely depends on your line manager. I was very lucky with mine and would've definitely quit earlier if he wasn´t there supporting me.
There have been many fights between leadership members and also some very toxic behaviours of some managers towards other employees without any consequences. Insteadt of guiding a direction or creating a healthy, positive atmosphere and work culture, the leadership team was fighting againts each other or being a good example of how to burn out yourself.
Interessante Aufgaben
In general: yes, definitely. However, since the new management board was built, it happened quite often that I was working on previously agreed projects, which then were stopped, so all work for nothing. Was it all worth the high workload and toxic work culture? Not for me.
Gleichberechtigung
Unfortunately, I cannot give zero stars. I experienced a huge pay gap between precious BMW staff as well as within the teams. Additionally, people working in part time (especially women) are being massively disadvantaged, among other things with regard to the payment of additional payments.
Arbeitsbedingungen
I experienced that there were not enough meeting rooms/phone booths for the amount of staff. As a result, many people had phone conferences at their desk which often made it hard for me to focus.
Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein
One could say "yes", because DCS is working in the EV industry. I, personally, found it ironic that BP as big oil company became a third shareholder.
Gehalt/Sozialleistungen
In my opinion, the entry salary is fine compared to market level. I also very much apprecited the financial support for a Qualitrain membership.
Unfortunalety, I had to find out that there was a huge pay gap within my team (e.g. difference of 40%!) while I was being told there is no chance for a salary increase for several years. The handling of personal data was very poor, so that it happened a couple of times that excel sheets including the salary information of all employees have been sent to random people in the company that were on 'cc in the email.
Karriere/Weiterbildung
DCS offered a development budget, which was a great offering.
However, if you´ve mentioned suffering from mental health issues because of the high workload and pressure, I personally experienced not beeing considered for a promotion or salary increase any longer.
To me it was also not very transparent what needs to be achieved in order to get promoted, those kind of decisions felt very random and dependent on the effort of the line manager.
