Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich

Excellent Research Management who really cares about her Team and their development. Unfortunately, she is the only Manager who understands how to lead and cares about her team.

Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich

Cheap Hiring - low salaries
Unequal chances
Unrealistic expectations/targets
No career development - many excuses

Verbesserungsvorschläge

Gehalt/Sozialleistungen

Way under average

Vorgesetztenverhalten

Management has no leadership skills and his leadership resembles an improvisation.

Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich

You can evolve quickly if you are proactive and independent. You can enjoy some freedom and start doing your thing.

Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich

The environment is very static and frustrating. It is difficult to find the resolve and work there for anything more than 2 years.

Verbesserungsvorschläge

Do not be afraid of facing who you are: your limits in methodology, your weak commercial local strategy, your unfair salaries and the general lack of transparency and trust between colleagues. Start by changing the Managers (that apparently never leave the company or get asked to leave) do some benchmarking and bring some change!

Arbeitsatmosphäre

The working environment is a bit odd. You feel observed and it is hard to really focus on important tasks. The open-space office is modern and well located but It is difficult to feel comfortable while working in the office. Home office is allowed 2-3 days per week.

Image

Internationally they are well known and considering that people that left the company are most of the time the most skilled and confident ones, this pushes Euromonitor reputation in the industry. In Germany they are still not so well known and the team is not as well trained and developed as in the main offices (UK & US).

Work-Life-Balance

Depends on the role, your ambition and how you manage your daily job. If you are well organized, you can achieve a very good balance.

Karriere/Weiterbildung

In Germany there are limited possibilities. You can only advance if you start with right territory or clients otherwise you are lost. Since the company does not really evolve and the Managers are mainly too young and/or not really that skilled, they never leave, it means no chance for you to step-up.
The only possibility is to leave for another bigger office around the world.

Gehalt/Sozialleistungen

At the beginning the basic salaries were pretty basic and under industry-average. Some people joining later got better conditions. The commission can be good but it all depends on what territory or business space you get assigned. Your skills do very little to change that. They adjust your salary each year according to inflation which is a good thing and should not be taken for granted.

Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein

There are a lot of CSR Initiatives and you can also take up to 2 days off to participate to these events.

Kollegenzusammenhalt

Depends on the team and the people you are working with. Some are supportive or at least they are trying (applies also globally) others prefer to do their own thing.

Umgang mit älteren Kollegen

If you are older than 35 years old, there are very few people older than you (even at the global level). Therefore this is not really an issue.

Vorgesetztenverhalten

Most of them are easy going and they will give you freedom and flexibility, but do not expect real support because in most cases they are not as competent as they should be especially when it comes to sales or managing of the clients.

Arbeitsbedingungen

Again it depends on your line manager and the sales territory you cover. For some it can be pretty manageable for others it can become extremely frustrating and it is almost impossible to meet the expectations.

Kommunikation

There are regular meetings and quarterly updates coming also from the headquarters. However nothing really changes in the end and you feel a bit left on your own with the business challenges still to be faced.

Gleichberechtigung

This is the biggest pain point.
The salary structure is not transparent. It is not fair since you have people who are older, more experienced and with much more challenging clients getting less than others more junior than them. It looks like if you are lucky and join at the right moment you can get better conditions than the ones that started from the very beginning. Also the targets are in most cases completely unrealistic and without the right territory and leads (in some industries EMI is well positioned in others you have absolutely no chance) you cannot count on getting a decent commission. This also affects Promotions and your career perspective in the company

Interessante Aufgaben

At the beginning, there is a lot to learn and if you work in the right business space there is some knowledge you can get as well from the clients. After a while though, you realize the company is not innovative, they are using the same approach and research methodology (for way too many years). It means everything becomes repetitive and superficial. This leads to poor client-engagements and it is hard to generate business in these conditions.

Avoid if you have some work experience

Arbeitsatmosphäre

This depends on the department. Generally, research is relaxed, sales is competitive in a bad way (particularly between offices) and consulting is dramatically overworked and overstressed with deadlines. The leadership doesn't implement any measures to change that. The managers are too inexperienced to be able to judge the real value of one's work, hence the working atmosphere suffers. The atmosphere between colleagues is otherwise good. Unless one is really unlucky and ends up in a situation where colleagues are putting pressure on each other due to a unmeetable job requirements. This is rather exception than the rule, but if that happens, no measures are undertaken to alleviate the situation. As long as projects/tasks are completed, why bother, right?

Image

Pretty good, as despite bad working conditions, the company product is on par with the competition.

Work-Life-Balance

Again depends very much on the department. Some people are far from overworking themselves and can enjoy the benefits of summer Fridays or what not. Others have too much work to complete to be so fortunate. In consulting doing much (unpaid and unclaimable) overtime is the norm.

Karriere/Weiterbildung

Nice on the job training into own methodologies, no further skill development support. Promotions depend a lot on the direct manager who makes a case for you or doesn't. Some managers are good to push promotions and some just don't.

Gehalt/Sozialleistungen

Apparently, recently improved and competitive in the business of market research providers. In my time, inadequate to work performance. Everyone recieved a top-up as inflation adjustment, which is pretty fair.

Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein

Some green-washig activities do take place. There are two days off for volunteering per year to be taken. Some people have fun.

Kollegenzusammenhalt

This is mostely pretty good.

Umgang mit älteren Kollegen

Few people above 35 are employed at this office, so in a way not an issue. However, this in itself should tell you not to apply if you are above that age. You will have nothing new to learn, and will be treated equally with the 25 year olds.

Vorgesetztenverhalten

This is truly the worst aspect of working at this company. There are two types of managers 1) experienced but blind: those people have worked at Euromonitor for the better part of their lives, they know how things work and are able to share that knowledge. Unfortunately, they lack any real business experience and can never think outside of the Euromonitor box. 2) reatively new managers who are so inexperienced and so afraid to show it they cannot/won't even cover for your tasks if you are out of office for a few days*.

*btw except for sales, there is no replacement rules if you are on leave. Even coming back from a family emergency leave, tasks remain piled up and no support is offered. Easiest way to burnout.

How is it that managers at Euromonitor seldomly quit and never suffer any consequences if something goes wrong? There is only employee rotation at lower levels...

Transparency and good values are written in company presentations, but if management writes positive company reviews on kunuu about what is essentially their performance, you can imagine the reality.

Arbeitsbedingungen

Modern office with good equipment. Nothing special and nothing bad. Open office.

Kommunikation

Local management repeats like parrots what is being communicated by the HQ. While there are quarterly updates about office performance, the country manager doesn't know how to build a readable chart with axis descriptions so the numbers are not communicated in a transparent way. Employee feedback is not desired, not escalated and not acted upon. In sum: top-down communication wanting, bottom-up non-existant.

Gleichberechtigung

Men are systematically paid more than women (also because of staffing on different positions). There are big salary disparities between employees holding same positions.

Interessante Aufgaben

This is actually the best aspect. There is lots to learn the first few months and years and interesting clients to serve. Unfortunately, due to lack of product development and rigid company processes, the tasks don't evolve so after a while, nothing new can be added to your skills. Therefore, only join if you have relatively little work experience and leave after approx. two tears.

Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich

They use and explote employees in Germany. You don't need any skills, master or languages. They will hire youif you accept an offer that is below your market value.

If you are thinking to join this company I would recommend you to check on LinkedIn current vs ex-employees. ( You might find more ex-employees than current employees).

Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich

I really love working in Sales at Euromonitor. I've joined the Dusselsorf Team in spring 2022 and am very much enjoying my work and the team, who are all extremely supportive, kind and going out of their way to help each other and clients. My manager is very experienced, supportive but also challenges me in the right moments to think outside the box. The ambition of the team to deliver outsized results is palpable, which makes coming to work stimulating, not dull like I've seen elsewhere. I have absolutely no complaints and highly recommend Euromonitor and the Dusselsord Office.

Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich

Nice colleagues and interesting clients

Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich

Unfortunately, I do not recommend this company. Since I started (a few months ago) I have seen that every month a person leaves the company. There is a big communication and motivation problem in this office. For example, management only communicates that a person is leaving 1-2 weeks before the person leaves. There are many rumors about salary differences and preferred people and unfortunately this is true and super demotivating - there are people earning much more than others in the same position (up to 30% more!) and the country manager's excuse is that opening a new office is not so easy and they had to pay very high salaries at the beginning to attract the first employees (Big Red Flag. Clear example of lack of planning and transparency). The local management in Dusseldorf has no previous experience managing and guiding teams. The country manager and the research manager do not speak any German so you can already imagine the quality of the data in the DACH region. The sales manager is a disaster. He has a strong preference for the Germans and he still doesn't know how to handle salesforce, passport and outlook. I hope this information is helpful!

Gutes Unternehmen, aber wenig Wachstumschancen in Düsseldorf

Work-Life-Balance

Good Location, free fruits, free water and free coffee

Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich

- Benefits are non-existent in Düsseldorf.
- They do not invest in their employees.
- Nobody really interacts in the Office. People are very unmotivated and there is no Teamwork between Departments.
- This is not a Job you should make any long-term plans or have any career aspirations
-The Managers are People with no Prior experience in managing Teams and incapable of motivating People and earning trust.
- This is a great Company for students or for a first Job but if you have any drive, Ambition or hopes for success - just walk away, you will be saving yourself a lot of time.
- Rotation is very high

Angestellte/r oder Arbeiter/inHat zum Zeitpunkt der Bewertung im Bereich Forschung / Entwicklung gearbeitet.

Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich

Flexible working hours and great office location

Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich

- Very low salary vs other companies
- They have created a work culture (mainly in sales) where people do not work hard and are very mediocre
- Very high rotation. When you constantly see people leaving, it is difficult to stay motivated when there are more leavers than joiners
-Incapable management, mostly on full salaries but part time shifts
