Nice team, interesting challenges and lots to improve - but in a toxic, rushed environment
Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich
The immediate team is nice to work with.
Despite some people being under pressure the team stays focused and supports eachother.
Office management is responsive and supportive.
There are also interesting challenges to solve, and there's A LOT to improve.
Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich
Neither renumeration nor recognition nor giving freedom. It's a chokehold.
You like a topic and naturally gravitate towards driving it? Can't have that, it's gotta be pushed from above, else the success isn't owned from there.
At the same time immense amounts of repetetive tasks, reportings and many releases (sometimes 5-6 game releases in a single day) that make up 90% of the work give 10% for the work you would like to drive but can't and get belittled for. All executing departments are kept busy in this perpetual tedium.
Negative feedback or raising concerns are quickly dismissed with effectively "do it anyway. there's much €€€ to be had!" - when it fails due to the concerns previously raised and needs to be undone in the same rush as it was pushed in, the issue isn't the decision - the issue is the execution.
Having only 9 days of remote per year is also quite pitiful for a tech company that doesn't even cover the transportation costs (just a 12-15€ Monthly subsidy for the 3-8€ / day expense) - while some are granted exclusive rights to work remote full time.
Just imagine a data-driven company that fails to realize team-data changes when people reduce eye contact, show signs of burnout, quit or just lose their passion. My assumption is that it's a deliberate act - and if it is that's absolutely shameful.
Verbesserungsvorschläge
Don't treat your employees like an AI Agent or your players.
Realize you are a company working with games and give employees the breathing room to grow and use their inherent passion to drive topics naturally without force-choking every bit of drive out of them.
Arbeitsatmosphäre
Overall a quite toxic environment:
Dominance and pushing from above to ascertain the success belongs to them.
Many bad decisions are made - which can happen - but when these decisions have concerns raised against or pushback given it's not being heard and insisted upon. When it fails for the exact reasons of the concerns raised the fault is not in the pushed decision to do it anyway - it's execution.
Specific individuals are defacto openly belittled and some are effectively actively being pushed, possibly with the intent to make them leave.
Gehalt/Benefits
If you got in with decent salary, you're good - if not, good luck, for proper feedback cycles are far and wide inbetween and are not linked to salary adjustments. If you do show signs of good work while underpaid, more work is expected from you in a long "let's wait and see" period - when asking Months after for salary or at least title to reflect the work you already do it is often shut down, sometimes from way above from a level inadequate to rate in-discipline development.
Arbeitsbedingungen
The equipment itself is fine. There's very little choice in the device you get to use and the Macs come with surveillance software for security. Required equipment is provided where necessary. Lighting is fine. Air quality is fine. Noise level is terrible depending on the room due to external factors.
Gleichberechtigung
This part is fine-ish. There's nothing much done for immediate inclusion (e.g. beyond binary genders) but also nothing discriminated against - every member if the team is equally included and welcome which, from my point of view, is healthy and the right form of inclusion as it's natual.
Older colleagues hardly exist but colleagues who have been in the company for a long time are not really valued, there's a few nice words on their work anniversary in the Monthly presentation and that's it. After that event it defaults back to trying to push those people out by making their work life more miserable.
