My 5 interviews lasted a month, including the submission of a task assignment. Each round of interview was positive with my interviewer wanting to ‘speed up’ the process and having discussions of me possibly joining as soon as possible. That is bound to raise expectations! This resulted in me speaking to a panel of three company employees and then again a night interview ON THE SAME DATE, with an employee located outside Germany, who would have been my reporting manager. This person interviewed me without having a look at my assignment saying it will be looked at later. Clearly they had not done their homework! I should have had the opportunity to explain my assignment, not for them to “look at later”! This person also kept undermining my capabilities with comments like “we’ll see how you fit in” “if you are able to even work for a b2b company” and “you understand this is not a permanent employment for you right?” - totally opposite to what earlier interviewers told me.
On the whole, I was made to understand that I would be hired, and suddenly after the last round a week later, they sent a generic refusal template email.

For global positions, our interview partners are often located throughout different time zones but it is our standard that we always give candidates the opportunity to suggest an alternative time-slot if not suitable. 
 
We are sorry to hear that you feel that one of the interviewers was not prepared. Not all interviews follow the same pattern, each interviewer has the opportunity to discuss the topics most important to them to ensure we cover all aspects of the role but we will feed this back to the interviewing team.
 
Although this opportunity didn’t work out for you, we wish you all the best with your next career steps.
