Politics over purpose, narcissistic management, work culture from the 90s
Arbeitsatmosphäre
Very bad working atmosphere. Finger pointing when mistakes are being made and focus is only on self-promotion. No interest in trying to solve issues or make progress as a team but only in power play and ego.
Kommunikation
Horrible top-down approach with a lot of sugar-coating by saying things like "we are a family" etc when actually all decisions are done besides closed doors with intransparent processes and no involvement of the staff. Additionally contradicting communication on some topics e.g. making a big deal of mandatory office time for everyone and then when the time comes having communicated no details or plan on how to execute this. Don't even want to start about the horrible internal communication with the recent layoffs.
Kollegenzusammenhalt
Definitely a lot of very fine people in the company. Unfortunately due to the bad work culture and atmosphere all the good ones leave...
Work-Life-Balance
Depending on the team can be quite good with flexible working hours and working from home options.
Vorgesetztenverhalten
Individually some great team leads but generally upper management has full control and doesn't seem to trust their directs. As a consequence a lot of controlling from "above" and very slow processes as well as irrational decisions.
Interessante Aufgaben
less and less over the past year. Used to be really fun work with great tasks but recently only either high pressure or boredom.

The office buildings are very modern and the equipment is mostly state of the art.
Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein
Green washing on every corner. It's logistics and the fashion industry, it's per definition not really green but it seems like Zalando pretends to be quite green when they actually don't put any sustainability measures as a priority while claiming to do their best. Over the past year a lot of green initiatives have been stopped.
Gehalt/Sozialleistungen
salary is ok but not competitive anymore. Last salary round has been a joke and doesn't even nearly cover the inflation which actually means to make less money than the year before.

Karriere/Weiterbildung
There are a lot of possible training options but how far you get within the company purely depends on how well you are connected and play the political games. It's definitely connection over competence.
