The working atmosphere is good in most parts of the company, and I speak for almost all teams. People talk openly with each other about everything going on, but something has crystallized here—a growing hate agenda against the employer. If someone complains here, it's usually those who are criticized within the company or who constantly complain about how bad the employer is, yet never voice their concerns officially. If things are so bad at the company, why are you always at the front of the line for company gifts or buffets? Why do you speak to managers without offering any criticism, laughing with them, but then rush to Kununu to complain? Why have you worked for the employer for years and criticise if you know there have been more positive changes than ever before?
It doesn't even have to be the new top management—think about it. You still have the opportunity to voice your concerns internally, but you don't. Think about it. Your whining is unbearable. Imagine being an adult and seeing a review titled "Improving" and then writing one titled "Not Improving." I still laugh at how ridiculous that is. Perfect!
No mobile work? Cry about it. We get feedback every month from the top management that mobile work isn't coming back. It's not a pleasant thing, but many large tech companies are in the same boat. Do I like it? No. Do I have to cry about it every week? No. The people who complain the most are those who run home straight away at 3 p.m., despite the flexitime system, which could be criticized too. The fact is, many people abused mobile work to watch films, play games, etc. The worst part is, these are the same people who are complaining. I love how it's always the dodgy characters who have the most criticism. If you quit, the employer is dodging a bullet. But you don't quit—you stay another two years, then leave, realize you can't coast at your new job, and then realize how good you had it before. Honestly, taking away mobile work is one of the stupidest things the company has done, but the criticism on Kununu isn't justified to the extent that people who don’t even work at home make it out to be. The benefits of mobile work, like better planning for accepting deliveries, saving commuting time, and transitioning faster to private life after work, should be the main advantages. (1/3)
Here I only give 5 stars because I mainly surround myself with competent people who work hard every day. People who are in the same boat and who don't let you down, with whom you can laugh, celebrate and chat. In that sense, the Chihuahua and freeloaders agenda also works against us employees, because competent future colleagues are put off by unfair reviews. Also very important here, if you give 1 to 2 stars and argue well and have thought about it and preferably no longer work here, go for it. There are really strong criticisms of the company that can be found in some reviews, but I haven't seen them for a long time.
This one is also pretty funny. The behavior of supervisors obviously varies from team to team. But I know what the hypocrites are getting at—they're questioning the competence of the managers. It's no secret internally that all managers need leadership training to improve their management skills (they know this themselves, and hopefully, the criticism has been received). But the competence of the top management is also criticized.
You can think what you want about their management style, but as a newcomer, or someone who's working at their first job with zero management experience, you don’t have the expertise to label the management as incompetent or unworthy. Due to the relaxed management style, some employees have developed egos that are truly unbelievable. Get off your high horse. Feel free to reflect on yourself, and if necessary, question the comments you're making.
Communication has improved in fact, I get all questions to my manager answered, even when I go to other managers and we also have a bi-weekly meeting every two weeks. You can also go to the top management's office on the side.
There are many legitimate points of criticism with this employer. But there's no fair assessment happening here—there's an agenda, where people who can't speak up for even a minute in the company are writing the reviews.
Please read through every review and sense the incompetence in comments like, "What's the only good thing about this employer? The fruit basket, the fridge." It might be funny to the author, but to me, it's just sad. Imagine being an adult and writing such reviews as an employee or applicant.
In addition to the Chihuahuas, we also have freeloaders with pseudo-competence. Listen, just because you think you deserve something or have expertise doesn’t make it true. We definitely have a double-digit number of freeloaders on our two floors who love to take advantage. You're not a professional, you're not as competent as you think you are, and you're unprofessional if you act all polished at work but then go on Kununu to play nasty.
(Work-life-balance) —not ignoring your colleagues' messages for 40 minutes or taking an extra day off. Chihuahuas and freeloaders. (2/3)
A difficult point, there are two possibilities here:
Firstly, it's good that you arrive early and leave at around 3pm (even earlier on Fridays) because you have the opportunity to have more of a private day (especially good for families with children).
Or secondly, it's good because you want to leave work as early as possible.
These two options are quite different but show that you have the opportunity to develop a good work-life balance.
Why do I give 3 stars and not 5? I have said goodbye to the idea of working from home. Because I'm not a child, I don't have to ask about it every month. What I would like, however, would be no or shorter core working hours. I wouldn't always benefit from this, but sometimes it would improve my work-life balance. For the sceptics, you can also introduce internal company rules that ensure that meetings and information must be adhered to and feedback given. The biggest concern about abolishing core working hours is that an employee is suddenly no longer in the office at 12 noon. Which is understandable. (3/3)
New chairs to be celebrated, really? This is standard in every professional company. There are still problems everybody who works at Syno knows about:
- new Office, less room for more people, just one smaller kitchen and less toillets
- Bad noise reduction, very loud and uncomfortable new office, no air conditioner, too hot during summertime, 7th floor
- Maximum average salary, new bonus system which targets at first try where not achieved, so they invented a new promo, but in the end it will just compensate what you could not get
- Too much reporting, every data has to be filled in multiple sheets, again and again
- No Home Office
No mobile work
Good, but decreasing
Top down management, not understanding how to solve the problems, just Meetings and Meetings with no focus
Still very bad
Micromanagement, more and more reporting, no focus on revenue and development, more and more Excel files, no modern crm
The working atmosphere is good. Talks can be held with everyone within the company and there are no closed doors if one is willing to discuss any given topic within respectful boundaries.
In my opinion the brand is really good.
The only downer is that there is just potential to make a really good brand an excellent one with the right courageous steps.
This is quite a polarised topic within the company as can be seen in the discussions and stated points in prior ratings. Repeating them would be redundant.
One counterpoint which is lacking in many ratings however is the general flexibility of working times and the responsible managers. In general it's possible to find a solution for most actual issues in this area.
Nevertheless: Mobile work in some way or form would definitely be a win for the company as a whole and the members.
It's possible to learn a lot here if one is willing to do it. But it requires taking the initiative since the local subsidiary has at least for now not all the means to develop a sustainable structure for itself.
This one of the key pillars of the company for me. In general I think it's pretty rare to have such a good, harmonic and friendly group of very diverse people. This should be appreciated and celebrated.
In general it's good on a per-person base.
My opinion is, that the issues arise within the interplay of different management styles but like pointed out on the communications part of this rating it is improving since communications got more open and sincere.
Improved a lot! New furniture and chairs replaced the prior - not good - situation.
One point where I think a sustainable solution has yet to be found is the lacking A/C in most rooms.
Has improved a lot in recent times and the general direction is good.
Improved in the last year. But I think the real stress test will come with the first performance based adjustments at the end of the year after the general adjustments of the last year.
The colleagues, almost exclusively. The product is mildly interesting but the quality is not very impressive, and if you thrive for excellence, at some point you will be disappointed.
Foreign company trying to force its ways into the german job market. This may work in Taiwan but it certainly does not work in Germany. Change!
Behave more like a european company and less like a foreign business. You are in Germany. If you want to sell to Europeans and cash out in Euros you need to adapt to the market as well. You cannot have it your way on all aspects.
On your first year you maybe go happy to work, eager to start your day and meet the colleagues. After some months of repetitive work, low motivation and very few development possibilities, especially in the career/salary aspect, you start to grow tired and cynical. This is a generalized phenomenon.
Have to agree to all previous ratings… Outside, the company seems to have an OK image with distributors and customers, inside, on the other hand, is very cynical and demotivating.
Some departments complain of being overworked, at least in some departments you really can do a 7-to-3 or 9-to-5 and disappear for the rest of the day. Points subtracted due to lack of home office. Absolutely stupid decision in 2024. Not possible to organize a day at home, therefore work/life balance is very bad in this regard.
It is possible to learn a bit from the job, or get some minimal trainings, but the budget is very low and the company focuses on “learn on the job” even if it takes longer and you don’t really formally “learn” in the right way, instead of providing good trainings that would improve the work efficiency immensely.
Probably the absolutely worst point. VERY far from the branch. It is not unheard of that colleagues leave for the same position in other company and get a higher salary as their manager, or colleagues that double their salary from just a company change. Absolutely catastrophic. I heard it changed a bit in the last year.
The conditions in the office are ok, but you know what would improve the ecological and social standpoint? HOME OFFICE.
Probably the only thing holding the german branch together. Most colleagues stay because of the colleagues, and it is not uncommon to see waves of friends going away all together.
If you are lucky, you get a Manager with great mentoring qualities and you can learn a lot. If you’re not lucky, you might get a tyrant with absolutely no idea of people managing, bad decision-making and irrational behavior, such as contradicting himself, blaming others, etc.
Not really the best, the hardware provided is outdated, chairs are not ergonomic and very cheap, a lot of colleagues had back issues. It is one thing to “spare”, another is to be “cheap” and almost criminally cheap.
Within a departament it generally runs well, with other departments sometimes difficult, and to the headquarters in Taiwan is absolutely catastrophic.
Probably the only other positive point.
Depending on the department, you might learn an interesting thing or two. After two years it gets really difficult to want to stay longer.
kostenloser Parkplatz
Schlechte Kommunikation between Abteilungen und Subsidiary’s.
Unterdurchschnittlich. Es gibt nur leere Versprechungen.
Monoton.
Langfristige Sicht, Kommunikation verbessern z.B. einheitliche Führungskommunikation
Teilweise sehr abwechslungsreich
Die Produkte, die Kollegen
Großraumbüro, Office Zwang, Bezahlung, hohe Fluktuation, unrealistische KPI's
Management ganz klar auswechseln.
So verdient kununu Geld.
