Kudos to the many awesome individuals working at Cluno, it is a pleasure to collaborate with every single one of you.
However, for a startup Cluno might be the benchmark regarding strong hierarchies and politics. Interactions between teams reach from highly collaborative to hostile and competitive. The more leadership and senior management in a department, the more hostile it gets. Utopian targets, scarce resources and unclear vision has a significant negative effect on employee satisfaction.
Peer-interactions between departments can be complicated. While some interactions are easy and effective, other departments show strong signs of distrust. Interactions between departments need to always involve supervisors as direct interactions will be ignored or delayed. It’s a command and control culture dominated by strong egos striving to increase their own and their departments visibility and influence.
I would love to see a change toward trust, optimism and flexibility. We need a shared vision, a collective understanding of the big picture and show a strong desire to simply delight our customers.
The supportiveness and friendliness of the colleagues compensates for Cluno's lack of professional leadership.
The context of car subscription is interesting to work at. However, Cluno is slow for a startup so progress is impacted by politics and resource shortages.
Weekly company meeting is a good example for a corporate culture which has communication issues. It might be planned with good intention, but presents itself as a source of visibility for a tiny share by sharing exaggeratedly positive updates.
No LGBTIQ/diversity group, a lot of different nationalities and two women in the C-level
Umgang mit älteren Kollegen
It feels like the older colleagues got their priorities straight. No bashing, no blaming, just calm and professional interaction.
Karriere / Weiterbildung
Cluno has an inflation of senior job titles. There are team-leads without teams and head of's with not a single subordinate. Personal development is not an actively pushed topic at Cluno. However, you get development budget after a successful referral.
Gehalt / Sozialleistungen
Good pay for a startup. No startup shares. Discount on Cluno subscription.
Equipment is okay. The old office was small and dirty, the new office looks well assembled and thoroughly designed. Unfortunately, the suggested 1,50m distance to peers might not always be possible.
Umwelt- / Sozialbewusstsein
Cluno offers primarily gas and diesel vehicles. In my opinion we could focus more on pushing the change towards e-mobility.
Depends - Some departments drop the pencil at 6 PM while others work excessive overtime. Overall, fine for a startup.
Innovative appearance on the surface while being a rather standard car rental company with nicely designed digital touchpoints.
- Replace the culture of command and control with one of trust, flexibility and empathy
- Improve leadership development on both personal and professional levels
- Plan before you hire - you are hiring people, not just assets
- Don't follow the loudest arguments, follow the substance and facts
- Promising product towards the customer
- Supportiveness and friendliness of colleagues
- New office
- Low trust towards employees
- Moderate customer orientation
- Inflexible processes
- Non transparent communication

Kommentar des Arbeitgebers
Dear colleague, We are aware of the fact, that there are a lot of changes taking place at Cluno at the moment and the past months have been taff ones for us. Together with all leads at Cluno we are continuously working on cultural and organizational improvements for the company as well as coaching all of our leads in different leadership topics. We are doing this in our regular CLOU session, our leadership programme, which takes place every 6 weeks. In our last sessions for example we were discussing about our new home office policy, the management of salary reviews and our meeting culture. For the upcoming months we are currently also planning a concept on providing a development platform for all of our colleagues, so we can support the companywide exchange even more. Apart from that we have recently developed a clear process for clearifying and understanding the detailed requirements for all new positions at Cluno including a very specific job profile. With this we are addressing exactly the problem you're mentioning in your feedback. Of course this is a continuous process and we are still learning, that’s why we need especially your feedback as a colleague to address the respective topics. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us and we would be happy to talk about it with you in person.
